Luck or Will?
If there was one thing that Islana had a back and forth relationship with it was luck. Whether there was such a thing was highly questionable, but if there was then Islana's life was a series of lucky and unlucky events, sometimes happening simultaneously.
The young woman had been lucky to be born with an ability, unlucky to have magik in a society that feared and hated magik users. Lucky to live in the woods, unlucky to not be allowed to leave it, until she did so for good. Unlucky to be captured by the Creed, lucky her friends found her in time. To be sold to a Odonoine village - definitely not lucky but being rescued by Shalia was definitely luckier than Islana staying there. There were too many more similar instances to name them all, especially on this pilgrimage.
Islana looked towards the Skara as it moved slightly away from where she stood with Madaya, she couldn't help but wonder if that fine line between unlucky and lucky would be crossed once again. They had been lucky to find the valley, with its materials for a fire and slightly cooler temperatures. Could it also be that the Skara just left them alone or would luck run out?
Then again, maybe luck had nothing to do with anything on this journey and everything was the will of the Twin Gods. It certainly seemed that way, more and more.
The large creature stopped and began making an odd noise. There was nothing good about that.
Looking around, there was a dune, ruins, the hole they had dug wasn't particularly close. Hiding behind some ruins made the most sense. Thankfully, both Islana or Madaya were on the smaller side.
Islana pointed to a part of a wall that remained standing and gestured to Madaya to go there.
Quietly, quickly the pair made their way behind the partial wall and crouched down.
Her power, would it work on something so large, or really anything that wasn't a bird or mammal? If it didn't, it likely wouldn't hurt anything. The redheaded witch hoped, anyway.
With all the energy she could manage, Islana closed her eyes and focused on the Skara. Then with a push of magik like the huntress had never tried before, the thought sent.
Leave
This would continue until it couldn't any longer. Unless, by some chance, luck, or will of the Twin Gods, it actually worked.
