Voah instinctively straightened and backed a step on her guard as the sudden whirlwind took shape between them, but she just as swiftly settled her composure and examined it. Sentinel Island... the dust devil... the Alossi ship. Vastad's response was unexpected. A God seeking answers. The revelation opened her eyes to the reality that things were never going to be as black and white as she wanted them to be. Not even the Pillars were omnipotent. That was somehow both comforting and disheartening, but acceptable.
Vastad had bidden her to speak her mind even though she was sure He could read it, but she spoke vocally anyway in her native Mizaran tongue, "I was not on the plains because my faith had been shaken... I confess that I was afraid, not only for myself, but for the Vauxian... for the fate of the natives. I wished no longer to be a wayward soldier, questioning my path and purpose... nor did I wish to be some pawn for a corrupt masochist and an army of misled people. People who claim to know your sanctity and intentions. I need to know what I am really fighting for... I need to be sure that was truly exacting your will... and not being misled, lied to by the Inquisition all of these years..."
She sighed, dreading the answer, "Is the Inquisition following your true tenets? That is... is the whole of Magik your enemy? If so, why?
