The Call of the Holy City
JP with Bandorchu, Winteroak, and LucianNepreen
Alexis turned her head, wondering what their young host was looking at, but saw nothing.
Well. Not exactly her first acquaintance to commune with unseen beings. It probably should worry her that she hardly bat an eyelash at something like this anymore.
“So she is alive?”
Maybe her parents might still see her once again then. That was comforting, even though Tarmen and her could not do anything for them right now, if that was how it was.
“What is this… Call?”
"I cannot be certain if she is alive still, but she did not go missing." He answered. " She simply answered the call known as 'The Wandering'. She is on the Pilgrimage of Bones. Making her way towards Gra'akast. The Holy City."
‘The Pilgrimage of Bones’? So much they just didn’t know about these lands…
Alexis remembered that Tar, as well, had spoken of a pilgrimage when he had studied the first half of the map. She wondered if there was a connection… maybe she should study the map again when she had a quiet moment. Not that it had given her any insight yet, looking at it several times before.
“What is the significance of that pilgrimage?”
"The Pilgrimage is undertaken by those that receive the call of The Wandering." He scooped the rest of his bread into his mouth. "When the current Seer Locust dies, the religious leader of the Ozainae, her spirit calls for new vessels to take on the trek to the holy city. There a final test will await those that survive the hardships of the desert to take on the mantle of the Immortal Prophetess."
Tarmen had decided to have more of the offered meal, concluding that the boy was just another eccentric religious figure, aloof and high off the world spirit or something.
Definitely high.
“So this isn’t a lone disappearance then? Was the girl the only one from this place?”
Alexis felt like she could ask away forever and still barely scratch the surface. And she was definitely getting off track regarding their current problem, so she was grateful for Tarmen’s interjection.
She could have her thoughts spin until she was dizzy on her own time. Later.
"She disappeared during the storm. No one else is missing from the village." The boy shaman replied to Tarmen. "I am certain it was the announcement of Seer Locust's death." He paused looking back once again to the night sky.
"So many people travelling towards Gra'akast. The fate of Arcadia seems to be tied to whatever will happen in the holy city in the next few months. Fate converging..."
He looked back at the two. "You carry a heavy burden with you..."
