JP with Lucian, Winteroak and Bandorchu
There was satisfaction in destroying the boats. While Tarmen didn’t enjoy the thought of taking them all on; if he was unhappy then they shouldn’t either.
He looked up from his handiwork upon hearing battlecries, spotting Alexis under attack and two on their way to do the same to him.
They were smart, always pairing a spear with a close range weapon. What they did lack was decent tactics outside of the archers, giving Tarmen an excellent opening.
He stood his ground as they approached, paying attention to the closing distance. He made an invisible line in his head and once the spearman passed it he dashed towards them.
His gambit worked with the spearman faltering, giving him the time to smack the weapon away with his blade and take care of its wielder with the return swing.
The rest of the warriors that stayed up on the beach decide to rush down to join their comrades. As they do you hear a loud piercing shout and the galloping of horses. You see Tar spurring your horses across the beach to try and distract the second wave of newcomers.
The sudden appearance of the horses provided Alexis with the distraction she needed to deal with her closest opponent.
She managed to trip him to the ground, and was over him with her sword before he could get his bearings.
She struggled to her feet and took a precious second to assess the situation.
The galloping horses did indeed throw the second wave off their game, rushing through them and even running one of them over.
And they were not that far away, either. It was a gamble but if she could get a hold on one of their horses…
Alexis braced her shield and forced herself into a crouched run.
In the middle of dueling a rather skilled club wielder, both Tarmen and his adversary were surprised by the approach of Tar. The moment of panic ended quicker for Tarmen once he saw it was an ally and he swiftly ended the warrior.
Not wanting to waste such an opportunity and seeing Alexis apparently thinking the same, Tarmen took off to get closer to Tar.
One warrior swung his club at Tar and hit him flush in the chest sending the man flying. The horses galloped away in panic. The attackers turned to finish this once and for all against the two foreigners that dared interfere in their raid
Alexis certainly couldn’t hold a candle to a galloping horse, but getting rammed into with a shield at the end of a full blown charge could definitely threw a grown man off his feet.
The one who had attacked Tar learned that by first hand experience after which Alexis positioned herself between Tar and the remaining attackers.
Tarmen was too tired of these little hiccups. He was especially tired of the unending persistence of these warriors, commendable as it was.
When Tar went down and the horses fled, Tarmen had had enough.
He didn’t see Alexis guarding Tar, only the men that still stood and charged with a guttural bellow of rage and frustration.
