Curiosity
JP with Winteroak and Cindy
The caravan had stopped and set up camp a few hours ago. They had taken to eaten dinner and cleaning up afterwards and now it was to people conversing, and attempting to keep warm.
The cloak Islana had been allowed to buy, was doing a decent job but being near the fire helped as well.
The biggest problem with the temperature here wasn't specifically the heat or the cold, but the fact that each hit you hard and fast. No time for adjustment.
Islana wanted to speak to the priests more, she had so many questions for them. Would they even talk to her?
Neither seemed unfriendly, actually Amastan had seemed nice to Islana despite kidnapping her.
Her gaze went around trying to spot the priests. Spot them she did, as they came to mingle by the fire. Actually sitting close to her.
Islana gave them a nod, reflective of greeting someone of higher status then yourself. Yet, there was a certain amount of apprehension. Not only was she a slave, she didn't quite know where to start.
Amastan had sat the closest to the redhead, which was a relief. Islana just decided to try, they would certainly let her know if it wasn't alright.
"Good evening." Greeting them with a pleasant tone and allowing them a chance to return the greeting before continuing on.
"Would it be alright if I asked you a few questions?"
The two priests looked at each other. "Speak child. We will answer what we can." Islana noticed how Agizul looked at her particularly with a smile on his face.
Islana, unlike herself, didn't feel much hesitation once the two seemed willing to speak with her. Just where to start.
"I know the Sand Horde is your military but what is it like? Why is it referred to as "raising" it?"
Islana didn't know why her first questions that slipped out were about that, considering the young woman had little interest in military things until a few days ago. Then again, it was for some reason, where all this curiousity about the Ozainae started.
Amastan and Agizul exchanged smiles. "When the Prophetess decides war is the last resort she calls on all the Septs, tribes of you like, to bear arms against our enemies." Amastan explained. "The Holy War waged in the name of the Twin Gods is called the Maelstrom. And the blessed army is the Sand Horde. Her call raises our swords and shields." Agizul completed glad for the young woman's curiosity for their ways.
Islana nodded, as she formed a mental imagine in her mind, that might not have been excately accurate but it was definitely based on what they said.
"Can you tell me more about the Twin Gods?"
It was clearly more than just idle curiosity fueling the questions, it felt very much like a need. Islana though was trying to not go past asking anything that might be considered overstepping.
They both kissed the crossed tusks in the hems of the sleeves of their robes. "Yther and Viher. Water and Dust. The only true Gods. They came to our Prophetess thousands of years ago while she wandered lost in this very desert." Agizul explained."They are life and death. They embody not only the desert and our home but life itself. And we are their servants." He said raising his hand over the sand curling his fingers slowly into a fist before opening it again revealing a puddle of water cupped in his hand. He took it too his lips as the blue flash faded from his eyes. "He is known as a Water-Bearer." Amastan explained raising her hands over her head calling down a sudden gust of air that blow sand around her like a small whirlwind. "Air-Weaver." Agizul said explaining what is sister was known as.
"Our powers are gifts from the Twins. As is all life..."
