Stoneshade Keep
The Duke was just finishing his supper when Eren Sadir came calling escorted into the Great Hall by the Lord Commander’s seneschal.
The merchant bowed deeply. “Apologies for calling so late in the day, Your Grace. It’s been a most productive day.” He said waiting to be offered a seat.
“Think nothing of it. I know your affairs keep you busy and are an integral part of the town’s development.” The Duke replied telling the man to sit. He called for a servant to pour them some wine.
“How goes production in the new mill? Are we prioritising the material for the new shipyard?” he asked.
“Indeed. As agreed Seros’ workers are getting all the materials required. I’m glad to report we are ahead of schedule. The new influx of skills workers helped greatly.” Sadir replied.
“We need that mill working day and night. We have another 200 settlers arriving arriving before the Fall Festival and the seas close to us from another season.” The Duke said making it explicit his wishes.
Sadir nodded his understanding.
“How is your future son-in-law? I trust he is all recovered from his ordeal in Aquilo?” The Lord Commander enquired politely.
“Yes, although his assessment was that it will be too dangerous and not profitable for us to take on the commission for the transportation of goods between Ostiarium and the mining settlement.”
“Oh? And what do you think?” the Duke asked raising an eyebrow.
“I think he is best suited to run the brewery and keeping my daughter company.” Sadir said with a grin. “We will of course take on the commission under the agreed terms with the caveat of army support while the war rages.” The older man declared.
“I have yet to thank you for the suggestion of marrying me daughter to the young noble.” he continued.
“Think nothing of it. He is the second son of a minor noble; his title will be useful to you and our enterprises.” The Duke said. “ I have sent letters back to Helias already to some of my business partners. Your family joining a noble house will likely help us double our consignments from your business next year.”
Eren Sadir bowed deeply. “I don’t know I will ever repay you, my lord.”
“Don’t worry, Master Sadir. I’m sure I will think of something.”
