Tar looked at Alexis.
"It's a gift from the Friar. One of the most important and influential people in the settlement." He started slowly trying to gather his thoughts. "Knowing nobility this is not something he would just throw away into some corner. Most likely stored with other trophies and gifts. Maybe a trophy room or his quarters or office?" He put forward.
Alexis nodded.
“Yeah, probably not going to find it in the soldier’s bathroom, that’s for sure.”
She shrugged.
“Can’t say I had much of an eye for decorations the one time I actually was in his office.”
Listening to all of this was a bit of a whirlwind. He know fully recalled Tar, reviving the distrust he had felt for him. To see Alexis working with someone she had held such disdain for, she must have been desperate.
Glad to hear Hunter was alive, he wanted vengeance for the man’s treatment at the hands of the Clansmen. Just another tick on the list of things they did that pissed him off. It did put him in a working mood though, his brow deep in thought and his grin faded to a tightened line.
Reaching the end and the new talk of this relics location, he finally spoke.
“If it were on display in that chamber, I would have seen it. Been bored enough to look over every inch of the place.”
Leaning back, he knew it would be difficult to plan around a man he hardly knew anything about. For all they knew, the Duke could be the type to stash valued pieces up his ass. Wouldn’t be the first time he’d seen it.
“Depends on what he makes of it. If it has the value you say and he knows, he may want it hidden. In plain sight if we are lucky, but I wouldn’t doubt if the man has some sort of secret hideaway in that place.”
Alexis listened to Tarmen’s assessment carefully.
“The Friar, at least, didn’t seem to know. And I suppose if Stoneshade would be truly interested, at least right this moment, he would have wanted to acquire the other half as well. So my guess would be it isn’t necessarily hidden for safekeeping.”
“So we try and draw it out? I could find some reason to bring it up so that he would show it. Not sure how, but otherwise we are poking in the dark.”
Tarmen was leaning over the table, deep in thought and fully on board. It had been too long since he had done any real heists and he wanted to relish it.
“As much as that would help, wouldn’t that get you into trouble if that specific thing was to disappear?”
Alexis really didn’t want him to risk that much.
“If you could somehow get him to show off his treasures in general, that might give us a pointer. And even that will be hard enough to achieve subtly.”
