‘So, how do we do this?’
Back in hiding, Alexis took stock of what they had gathered.
She really, really didn’t want to get into any fights. Mostly because she didn’t fancy their chances versus a whole village even if their best warriors were off to the plains. And maybe, just maybe she didn’t much like the idea of rising her blade to what, in the end, amounted to a bunch of civilians. Even ones she didn’t really like.
Luckily, it seemed Tar was willing to take an active part in getting Hunter out. With how dealing with the man had been going so far, she hadn’t been too sure.
So they put their heads together to come up with a plan.
Sneaking in should be doable. At some point, most of the village would be asleep, leaving the less than attentive guards.
Dogs. That could be a problem. They might rise an alarm. But maybe they could be placated with some treats. So in preparation she would make sure the both of them had some meat to bring.
But then there was the state of Hunter himself. At this point, even without having been close enough to actually see, Alexis had no more valid reason to doubt Tar‘s vision. And that meant the assassin was chained up. And half dead. Which unfortunately meant they had to be prepared for him not being able to walk on his own.
So not only would they have to get him out of the chains, they might have to carry or at least support him out of the village right under everyone’s noses.
As it turned out, the chains might not be that much of a challenge. Tar seemed confident he could pick whatever lock they might have on them. Well, what do you know. Hidden talents and all that.
So that left giving them a chance to get by the guards. A distraction was in order. With Tar being the lockpicker, that would be her part.
As a quite classical approach a fire or several small ones might do the trick. It shouldn’t even do that much damage, given that they had an actual water fall right there to battle it. Adding collecting some kindling to the preparation list, she agreed with Tar to retreat to their camp for now, and get everything ready to take action the next night.
