Sharing Camp and Thoughts
JP with Voah and Gonyaul:
They had two tents, but setting up camp would be quicker with them sharing one.
Voah had discerned that there may be some small game nearby, having seen something promising from atop Litany before they arrived to their camping spot. Gonyaul took point on stepping up the one tent as she gathered the bow and arrow to head out to hunt. One tent was all they needed, especially since one of them would constantly be on watch while the other slept.
Gonyaul was getting quite efficient at setting up and taking down tents from all the adventuring. He used the extra tent bedding to add to the comfort. He then proceeded to working on getting a fire started, hopeful they would be eating a catch when Voah returned.
As Voah rode off, Gonyaul couldn’t help but smile left alone with his memories of all the new information and stories they had shared along the way.
The sun was beginning to set and Voah had her sights on a better meal than rations for the evening. The first cottontail was an easy shot, it was simply standing alone and completely unaware. But the second one must have caught the scent in the air after Voah’s first kill. She had to give it chase and wait a while until it came out from hiding before taking it down as well.
She returned to a fire crackling happily in the evening air, presenting her catch to Gonyaul with a bit of pride.
“I fancy rabbit, Rabbit.” she joked.
Gonyaul laughed at her joke and praised her for her accomplishment. He volunteered to gut and skin the rabbits, preparing them for roasting over the fire. While working on their meal, he inquired of Voah.
“May I share some thought I have while now?”
He wanted to share his thoughts he had on absolute morality and how it led him to the hypothesis that something like deities, or a master designer, must exist. It was not in line with his teaching from home and maybe she could help affirm or blow holes in his thinking. Either way, he valued her opinion on it, wanting her perspective so he could figure out the truth for himself; not just because an elder or even an arbiter said so.
Voah sat down nearby as he began the skinning process. It was odd that she knew little of skinning animals and more about flaying a man to make him talk, a long she withheld from her prior comment on the matter.
She looked through her pack for any dried herbs and spices that remained from her journey with Hunter.
More of his hopeful folly was about to spill out she expected, then she realized how cold her thinking was and she didn’t want to push him away so she made a point to humor him.
“Certainly, I would be delighted.”
That was true at least, she liked hearing him speak. It was but one of the many reasons she let him share her personal bed so soon after meeting him.
