Give It A Chance

When Tam rolled over to look at him, he could read into the false sleepiness. Had she been listening to the conversation? Knowing her, she most likely had. Conflict cut into his mind as he thought of telling her it was nothing, but he had made a promise. He wanted to keep that promise to this perfect girl he felt he did not deserve.

"Who was that, sweetie?" She said in a lazy tone.

"It was Brandon. They don't want me to involve you, Tam," He finally said after a moment, a look of fear in his eyes. "I'm pretty sure his gang wants me dead..."

Something about the way she had looked at him said everything would be okay and he wanted so badly to trust that.

River bit her lip and shrugged. "Six?" She suggested with a small smile. Looking over Jonah, she could tell he was a good guy that didn't mean anything bad, but there was that fear. Her fear of what could happen if she were alone with a man again was always clawing at the back of her mind.

She would not let that deter her from trying to enjoy herself, though. If she was going to move past this anxiety and fear, she would have to try. "You said at your place, right?" She inquired, brushing back a lock of her dark hair. "I remember where that is from when we went with Tam. I can be there at six if you want."

River would give this Jonah a chance.

"That sounds perfect," Yazuhiko stated before giving Max the address of the apartment complex he was staying at. "I will see you then, Max. Enjoy the rest of your evening."

After hearing goodbyes from Max and the animals, he hung up and leaned back in the chair he was sitting in. Grabbing a piece of paper, the man fanned himself. It had been a long time since he asked someone out on a date.

He just hoped it would go well.

Bonnie and Junior watched Max, able to sense his excitement and nervousness all at once. They also could feel the anxiety that came from needing to tell Kevin aobut Layla's pregnancy.

Mr. Andrews was sitting close by with his book in hand and offered a calm smile. "Are we picking up my son soon?" He asked.
