Apologies And Fear

River, having calmed herself down, finally returned and handed a printed out version of Serenity's schedule to Tam. "We can go laptop hunting for you later so I can forward things to you later." She said in a far kinder voice than earlier. With a slight grimace, she gestured toward the room she often occupied when spending the night. "I had to earn my money from home for that laptop, so I apologize that I got a bit...mean."

With that, River turned to Serenity. "Remember not to spoil Winter too much, Serenity." She suggested.

Kevin froze and stared at Max for a long moment, biting at his bottom lip. "W...what?" He stuttered as the words slowly registered through his mind. His hands seemed to instinctively move and had Bonnie off his lap before unbuckling. Tense and silently afraid, he grabbed up his backpack and got out of the car. Keeping his grip on the straps of his backpack tight, he prayed it hid his shaking.

He had not expected this kind of reaction from his friend.

Bonnie sat in the seat and looked between Kevin and Max in confusion. She was unsure of what to do.
