Settling In

CSCSS Nomad > B Deck > Sci-Med Cabin
Adama entered cabin 3, which was the Sci-Med Cabin. As he walked by the bunks, he noticed the pre-assigned bunk pods had removal name plates, along with BMI storage containers filled with their personal effects, as well as a crew uniform and gear already laid out for them.

The first bunk belonged to Garrett, the second bunk was for Adama, the third was for Blaire, and the fourth was for Del Ray. Now that Adama knew who he was bunking with, he put his bags on his bunk and began sorting out his belongings. He had clothing, personal tools, his side arm, and some records on his data pad for mining info.

Since he didn't always find a wide variety of ore on each planet he used his down time to re-read his notes on the topic he was looking into for each mission. Granted the others on the team seemed like decent folks, he was more focused on his job and less on gossip. Gossip might be entertaining, but it didn't pay the bills, so he tended to avoid close personal connections with others. Bouncing from job to job and leaving behind a lot of one night stands, Adama planned on a few more big scores before settling down. He was not sure if he would be ready for a family by then so he played it by ear.

Dr Adama finished unpacking his bag into his bunk and checked his bank card to see his current balance. Then he checked his Seegson P-DAT and charged it for later. Once that was plugged in, he checked his M4A3 Service Pistol and holster. He rarely needed it these days, but he was no fool when it came to the dangers of his mission and the greed of other crew mates. He had to kill a few people in the past who tried to double cross him. He was not fond of talking about it, but he knew he might have to do it again in the future. So after he strapped on his holster, put his pistol in the holster, and added the ammo to the gun belt for future use.

Once he was ready he logged onto his data pad to check/update catalog of known rock/mineral samples in the current system and what they expected to find. Then he began to experiment with creating holographic VR simulations to study exo-planet environments and configure calibration settings for electronic mining equipment. In order to allow the program to compensate for the unknow factors he made it adjustable to improve the accuracy of his scans when he would test it on the planet's surface. Of course, he would still have to fine tune it when he arrived on the planet, but this would definitely cut down on his scanning time. The sooner he found a big score of valuable ore the sooner he could collect a fat paycheck. He smiled when he was satisfied with the way he set up the program.

Rita started to unpack her items where they were supposed to go. It was a fast process as the woman didn't seem to pack heavy at all. A few books, a few photos, and a few changes of clothing was really all that she counted as personal effects.

Kicking off her shoes the woman turned and flopped back into her bed with a soft grunt and let out a small sound like she was letting go of a bit of anxiety. Pulling out her own P-Dat the woman went through a list of the cargo that was loaded already of botanical nature.

“Hmm, there seems to be good number of medicinal specimens in the lab, I should head that way and see if its put in into the hydroponics or if I need to do that yet.” Rita said though didn't seem to move away from her place very quickly.

Eldon retrieved his containers of personal effects and located his bunk. As luck (and odds because the science crew was small) would have it, he was next to Rita. He arrived later than she did... she was already lounging in her bunk. He carefully unpacked his things and stowed them away in the storage compartments... clothing, personal equipment, a couple binders and a document protector full of notes, printed data sheets, and various other documents, small fossilized mementos, and some other items in bags that may or may not contain cigs and small bottles of various alcoholic beverages.

In response to Rita's statement about onboard specimens, he grunted and said...

"Yeah...I should probably make sure I can access everything and sync up my P-DAT with the exo-fauna info they have."

He picked up the now-empty BMI container and moved to go put it back where he got it.

"See you there?" he asked as he steppped away.

Rita looked at Blaire for a moment and then across the cabin to see who may hear what she had to say next.

"I could be convinced join you.." Rita smiled coyly at him as she slipped from her bunk, her eyes darting about the room as her voice lowered a bit. "Just have to ask nice... I may even help you.."

Rita didn't move to walk past him, just rather stayed a bit closer than decorum deemed appropriate. "With your.... specimens... I should go... start my work. Chat in the lab?"

Rita's offer stopped Eldon in his tracks. With a grin, he turned to respond...

"By all means, please join me. I'd love to have your assistance, and I'd be happy to help you as well...vyou know... with seeding and such."

Rita chuckled at him and smiled. "Oh you are going to be fun to work with..." Her head knocked towards the door. "It's hydroponics so... shouldn't be too hard ya know..."

Rita slipped out of the barracks to make her way towards the lab.
