Novgorod Station > Shuttle Bay
Billy Adama gave a simple wave at the others as they entered the ship. He knew he had plenty of time to chat them up, but he was curious what kind of lab and resources he was granted to aid him in his research. If it was anything like last time he would have to do a lot of improvising and sharing with the other scientist. Luckily, his techniques and personal tools aided him in his work so he could be more independent.
As he passed SA-Miii he said, "Hello. Looking forward to working with you." Billy learned from the past that it’s better to kill with kindness than a bullet since you never knew who your future enemy could be.
SA-Miii turned her gaze towards Billy, her eyes displaying a warm acknowledgment. "Hello, Dr. Adama. I am likewise anticipating our further collaboration on our mission. Please allow me to take your measurements and see the science team for you EVA suit. If there are any other specific resources or requirements you have for your research, please feel free to communicate them to the science team before we board the shuttle."
Billy nodded and smiled as he replied, "Sure. I mostly need a bag and cutting tools for the rock samples, but any help will be welcomed." Billy smiled at the android and headed for the suits with his measurements.
Calvin Sestero stood next to Russ Garrett and extended a hand. "Garrett? Calvin Sestero," he said, pointing the other thumb at himself. "Good to meetcha."
"Thanks for the invite, pal. I'm sure it was a lovely get together, but while you boys and girls were out partying, I've been busy getting this baby ready to dance." he said in a good-natured tone. His demeanor and choice of words displayed that he wasn't ACTUALLY being passive aggressive.
Russ cracked a smile "Glad you’re here too. I’m the Team's Chief Medical Officer, Russ Garrett. I don’t often get to meet someone in your field of work. So is everything ready at your end and happy with the equipment they gave you?" asked Russ, knowing that he could do nothing about it anyway.
“Oh yeah. Everything’s copacetic, man. Top notch builds. And under the care of yours truly. Ya’ got nothing to worry about there. Only wish we had the funding to get one of those Class D life boats, but uh… don’t tell ‘em I said that,” said Sestero.
"We all would like something like that. We are still low men on the pole and dangling from the rope they hold. So, do not trust them yet either," commented Russ quietly. "I will have everyone’s back out there, and at least I have some experience in space. But not sure about these scientists. I hope they gave me extra supplies. I might need them." said Russ somewhat jokingly.
SA-Miii approached the two men. "Good morning. May I fit the two of you for your EVA suits?"
Calvin Sestero spoke first, "None for me sweetheart, I've already been decked out. Cap'n Yoshida and I had to do some last minute prep-work yesterday. But try my friend Garrett, here. See ya on the ship."
Sestero headed over to put on his EVA suit.
"Very well. Mr. Garrett. May I take your measurements. I would like to ensure your EVA suit will accommodate your protective armor."
Russ smiled at her and rattled off all the information like he had done hundreds of times before, making sure she got all the information. Russ paused, "And the medic vest and supply line for my suit as well. If you would be so kind. Russ waited for the parts to arrive Russ assembled his suit in record time.
"Hey, SA-Miii want to check me out?" Russ asked in a playful way. "I stand ready for your tout SA-Miii." Russ just gave a grin. Russ was really just testing her to see her reaction and how she interacted with him.
SA-Miii didn't get the hint when Russ playfully inquired about her checking him out, she responded with a composed neutral tone. "Of course, Mr. Garrett. I will ensure that your EVA suit is perfectly fitted, accommodating those additional requirements. Your tone indicates light-hearted fun. I must warn you, extra-vehicular activity is dangerous and should not be taken lightly. Your safety is my priority, and I appreciate your cooperation, but I can match the playful spirit if it makes you more comfortable."
"SA-Miii, I was a little too forward with you. I am sorry for testing your response towards me," said Russ apologizing. "You might want to leave out the ‘I can match the playful spirit' thing. Just do it or don't. Make that decision on your own, it will make you more human and appealing," suggested Russ with a smile.
“I will remember that next time. Thank you,” replied SA-Miii.
After receiving his measurements, Garret didn’t hesitate to put on the new EAV suit and activated it. He watched as the extra rescue equipment was attached. The pressure suit hissed as it form fit him perfectly. Now the other equipment needed a little adjusting and took a minute or two, which was normal. Then he headed into the shuttle.
