The Long Wait

Alternate Jaxx shook his head and replied, “Yeah she keeps me on a short leash too. Look the only females allowed in here are slaves and servants. So unless you want her parading in a skimpy outfit serving you wine and grapes……………..actually that doesn’t sound half bad provided she doesn’t punish us later.” Jaxx replied, “Well she like only has to pretend in front of others right?” Alternate Jaxx rubbed his chin as he nodded, “I will have to give this some thought.”

“Hmmmmmm…….just out of curiosity what is your Evelina dressed like?, “asked Alternate Jaxx (Anubis). Jaxx looked at Alternate Jaxx (Anubis) and replied, “She is like wearing MACO armor dude, “Well unless my Evelina finds her first we can have her brought here as so she can pretend to be your servant.” Jaxx pondered for a moment as he looked at the ground. Alternate Jaxx (Anubis) asked, “Something on your mind Jaxx?” Jaxx nodded as he replied, “Ummmm well like I’m kinda worried and stuff about how those dudes got into my head and stuff. Can they like read minds and such?” Alternate Jaxx (Anubis) smiled and said, “No. Ra gave his priests special jewelry that has psionic technology in it. It grants the user temporary short-range mental abilities but shortens their lifespan in the process. But don’t worry I have a jammer engaged in my helmet to prevent their attacks.” Jaxx tried to absorb what Alternate Jaxx (Anubis) just told him for a moment before asking, “So what do we do now?”

"No wonder the water is short here." Jade said, her breathing laboured, she reached to drink from the water skin. It was empty. She was becoming increasingly dizzy and light headed after the long trek.
Someone waved excitedly from a balcony.
"Is that?..." Jade winced against the bright sun looking up.
"Looks like Anubis and one of your companions. No matter. Anubis is a friend. He can handle the extraction on his own for your friend." Hasina was on edge, matter of fact and constantly looking around for trouble. Jamie stuck close to her, like a protective older brother.
"She's your alternate isn't she?" Jade asked, having just about caught up to the story of the crashed Blue Dwarfers.
"Yes She is." Hasina replied on Jamie's behalf. Not aggressively, but with enough insistence that the chit chat ended.

Alternate Jaxx (Anubis) was about to reply when he saw Hasina with some of Jaxx’s crew members. Alternate Jaxx (Anubis) then replied, “First we gather your team together and then we engage Seymour’s plan. For now keep your mouth shut in public and follow my lead. We will need to get your Evelina first.” With that Alternate Jaxx (Anubis) tapped into his armband and spoke in a weird language. (Translated: Find the slave that was wearing the blue armor and bring her and all her belongings to the Guest Quarters on the fourth tier in the West wing.) Then Alternate Jaxx (Anubis) looked at Jaxx and said, “Keep your helmet on and rest on the chair till your Evelina is brought up and for your own protection don’t talk to anyone.” Then Alternate Jaxx (Anubis) reached into his pouch and pulled out a small disc and flipped up Jaxx’s visor to insert it on his forehead. Alternate Jaxx (Anubis) said, “This will jam any psionic attacks on you for now. I need to check on a few things so wait here for your Evelina and please keep your voices to a whisper just in case.” Then Alternate Jaxx (Anubis) closed the visor and pushed his chest button to activate his jackal helmet before leaving.
