Leaving the grotto of Eden
(OOC: Once again, not my best work, by far, but It's better then what I have been putting out.)
When: A short while after the last post
Where: The peaceful grotto located just under beam 347-2b, in Cargo bay Two.
JAI looked up at at the massive old bulb, hanging precariously above his head, flickering slightly, as he rolled forth from his container, sweeping broad strokes from one side to another. He continue looking into the bulb for the better part of an hour, as he cleaned the last of the dust from the now spotless floor beneath his treads. He thought to himself of all the other places in the ship that would need cleaning, and for the first time in his robot existence, he felt something, a genuine emotion.
The feeling surprised him at first, and may have even caused him to drop his little broom, had it not currently been firmly attached to his 'hand'. He was finally feeling real emotion, and it terrified him, therefore accounting for a whole two emotions. He quickly rolled himself back into his container, hoping for the emotions to vanish, but they did not.
For several weeks, he did everything he could think to eliminate the emotions from himself. He tried buffering himself spotless, re-applying his stickers, and even replacing the bulbs in his eyes, yet nothing worked. No matter what he tried he could not get rid of the emotions that now infected him, like some form of strange plague.
In his thinking he had managed to eat of the forbidden fruit, and it began to eat away at his new found emotions, driving him rather mad for a short while. Eventually he began to see the Eden of his own creation with an almost loathing. No matter how much he did clean from that point on, he was constantly haunted by the existence of more dirt, and grime, just outside the box-walls that protected him, and his stamp collection.
Then, one day, when the pressure became to great to bear, he backed up his neatly organized belongings, and exiled himself from his Eden, if only for the day. He had filled himself with a fiery determination to rid the world of filth, in the hopes that it would stop his emotions. In his age-ridden lonely mind, he saw it as the only way to rid himself of the emotions, and be able to return to his dirt-free Utopia.
He set out, at what he presumed to be dawn, heading outside of the 'gates' for the first time in over a hundred years. He managed to make great progress, until running into a large mold ridden banana peel, which had managed to coat almost the entirety of cargo bay two not even two minuets outside of the gate. He proceeded to spend the next few days attempting to clean it, with little success.
Eventually he did manage to leave the grotto, heading out into the unexplored world. Behind him, he left a trail of spotless flooring, polished to a mirror shine. He also left a series of small dustbins, filled to the brim with various ground up junk, neatly christened with a small bow atop each and every one.
