Chris - \"Taken apart on the inside and outside\"
Who: Chris, CK & Justin (And apparently Keto - wasn't he on the other ship?)When: Shortly after Jay's ship has been infected with the virusWhere: A starbug"Sir, we're picking up a signal on the emergency frequency using old Morse code""What does it say?" asked Chris, who was sitting there, alert, his eyes on the Dwarf."The ship has been infected with a virus, they have no power. It looks like they're going to crash into the dwarf, but they're working on it""Why haven't we been infected?""We're using McAfee - they're using Norton""Ah, of course. We'll have to rely on them to fix it. I'm not sacrificing my crew to save them - we'll get mullered and probably get the virus if we try and save them, regardless of our superior Firewall and Antivirus programs." Chris replied, his eyes still focused on the ship that had been his home for the past five years, that was now shooting at them. He bit his lower lip as the Starbug, that was far from fast and manoeuverable, barely managed to dodge the pulse cannon fire that was raining down on them."I'm gonna regret this" he muttered to himself, turning to the back of the Starbug and yelling "CALLUUUUUUUUUM!"."WHAT!?" Callum yelled back."We're getting pummelled out here. Figure out some way of getting a shield up, configuring what's left of the deflectors, improving out engines, ANYTHING. We're in big trouble - we're not going to last another ten minutes unless you work something out for us. Quick question first though. ARE YOU DRINKING ON THE JOB LIEUTENANT?""No, sir" said CK, throwing the unfinished can of lager in his hand into the laundry basket ten feet away. "I'll see what I can do, sir""Nice shot" muttered Chris, as Callum dashed away to the engine room. Chris sat down in the co-pilot's chair again, turning to look out of the windscreen, just as a pulse of laser cannon fire hit the side of the ship. The console in front of Chris' seat exploded, knocking him unconcious in the seat, as the starbug dived left and right to avoid the increasingly fast pieces of death that were aimed at them.*In his mind*Chris silently got dressed in the dark, leaving the woman, who happened to be the wife of the chief navigation officer, asleep in the bed, opening the door of the quarters as quietly as he could manage and exited. The panel opposite him, in the blissfully white corridor, said 'JMC WHITE DWARF'.The lights were brighter than ever as he walked down the corridor back to his quarters, yawning, as he passed an office, that said 'Lt. Cmdr Chapman - Chief Navigation Officer'. He sped up slightly as he passed it, not wanting to be caught sneaking back from his evening's entertainment. The light went off in the office and he sped up. He turned his head, he was certain he was being followed. He continued to turn his head every few steps until he reached the Engineering department."Ensign Harris!" yelled a voice from behind him. Chris turned his head instantly, his hand instinctively reaching down for his hand gun."Oh shit" he thought "I've been caught". He stood there for a minute, puzzled when nobody came. He shrugged it off, thinking he was sleep deprived and turned back to continue walking. As he turned, a knife was embedded in his abdomen and twisted, his red blood highly visible against the pristine white floor, where he fell on his knees before collapsing, continuing to lay in a pool of his blood, his attacker, dressed in a cloak, ran away back to his office, the security cameras having seen everything.*Back in real life*"NOOOOOOOOO!" screamed Chris, as he sharply reached for his hand gun, as he had in the dream, shooting the wall."Sir?" asked the pilot, looking puzzled."Nothing, Ensign" said Chris dismissively. He pressed a few buttons on the console that had shot sparks into his face. "Callum, how are we doing on the upgrades? It doesn't matter how shabby it is, I just need something!"<Tag>
