Gender: Female

Age: Early 20s

Group: Supes

Alias

None (Previously “Guardian of Godolkin” in PR materials)

Rank

Rogue Supe, Former Godolkin University Student

Appearance

Cate is a striking young woman with an intense gaze and a commanding presence. Her blonde hair, often left loose or casually styled, matches her pale skin. Though once accustomed to designer outfits and Vought-approved public appearances, she now favors practical, low-profile clothing that allows her to move unnoticed. Her defining feature—the thick gloves she always wears—serves as both a protective barrier and a reminder of the power at her fingertips.

Abilities & Powers

Cate Dunlap’s abilities revolve around touch-based mind control, making her one of the most psychologically dangerous Supes in existence. While she lacks direct offensive capabilities like enhanced strength or flight, her power is subtle, invasive, and nearly impossible to counter once activated.

1. Primary Ability: Touch-Based Mind Control
Cate can manipulate a person’s thoughts, emotions, memories, and actions through direct skin-to-skin contact.

A. Implant Commands (Direct Mind Control)
•She can force an individual to perform specific actions—anything from raising a hand to committing violent or suicidal acts.
•Commands can be instantaneous (“Forget you saw me.”) or longer-lasting (“Follow my orders for the next hour.”).
•The more complex the command, the more mental strain it puts on Cate and the target.

B. Induce Mental & Emotional Manipulation
Cate can alter a person’s emotions by touching them, making them:
•Overwhelmed with fear, love, guilt, or euphoria.
•Susceptible to suggestion or persuasion.
•Temporarily lose all aggression, making combatants unwilling to fight.
•Experience intense pain or pleasure without any physical stimulus.

C. Memory Alteration & Erasure
•She can erase, suppress, or modify memories—making someone forget an event or believe an entirely false scenario.
•The longer and more detailed the alteration, the more taxing it is on Cate.
•Temporary memory wipes are instantaneous, but permanent rewrites require sustained contact.

D. Induce Sensory Hallucinations
By manipulating neural pathways, Cate can cause:
•Auditory hallucinations (hearing voices, false commands).
•Visual distortions (making people see things that aren’t there).
•Tactile hallucinations (making someone feel pain, heat, cold, etc.).
•Hallucinations are temporary and fade once contact is broken.

2. Latent Ability: Psychological Echoes (Unrefined, Underdeveloped)
Though she does not fully understand it yet, Cate’s powers occasionally leave residual imprints on those she has manipulated, including:
•Subconscious Suggestion: Even after her control fades, some lingering influence remains, making individuals more susceptible to future commands.
•Memory Ghosting: Some erased memories resurface in dreams or moments of extreme stress.
•Deep Emotional Ties: Prolonged exposure to her powers can cause irrational emotional connections—some people become obsessed with her, while others feel intense dread at the mere thought of her.

Weaknesses & Limitations

•Glove Dependency: She must wear gloves to avoid accidental activation of her powers.
•Physical Contact Required: Her mind control only works through touch, making ranged combat ineffective.
•Power Strain: Using her abilities too intensely or for extended periods leaves her physically and mentally drained.
•Guilt & Emotional Instability: Years of manipulating others against their will have left her burdened with guilt, affecting her judgment.

History

Cate was raised in the Vought-controlled system, her powers developed and monitored from an early age. Groomed to be a leader at Godolkin University, she was meant to serve as a controlled voice for Vought’s future generation of heroes. But everything changed when the truth about the Woods, the secret Supe experiments beneath the university, and Vought’s real intentions came to light.

Betrayed by those she trusted and forced into a conflict she never wanted, Cate used her abilities to survive—even when it meant compromising her own morality. Her mind control saved lives, but it also robbed people of their agency, a fact she struggles to reconcile.

After the fall of Godolkin, she became a fugitive, pursued by both Vought and underground factions seeking to use her power for their own ends.

Now, she is adrift in a world that fears and hunts her, torn between the desire to atone for her past and the realization that sometimes, power is the only way to survive.

Personality

•Intelligent & Charismatic: Knows how to read people, manipulate situations, and control a room even without using her powers.
•Guilt-Ridden: Struggles with the weight of her past decisions, but refuses to let it make her weak.
•Emotionally Guarded: Has difficulty trusting others, knowing how easily minds can be swayed—hers included.
•Survivor’s Mentality: She will do whatever it takes to stay ahead of Vought and her pursuers.

Motivations

•Find a Purpose Beyond Manipulation: She wants to make amends, but doesn’t know how.
•Avoid Capture: Vought will never let her go free if they catch her.
•Take Down Those Who Used Her: If she can destroy the people who ruined her life, maybe she can start over.
•Protect the Few People She Still Cares About.

Reputation/Public Perception

•Among Supes & The Underground: A dangerous wildcard—some fear her, some want her power for their own ends.
•Among the Resistance: Viewed with suspicion—her powers make people uneasy, even when she’s on their side.
•Among Vought Loyalists: Considered a rogue asset that must be retrieved or eliminated.
•To the Public: Officially branded as a terrorist, with Vought spreading misinformation about her role in Godolkin’s collapse.
