Wolves

"Definitely wolves!" Kailus thought, trying to work out how close they were.

Traditional logic would have the wolves surround the group before they would attack, that is, if they had sufficient numbers. The wolves were howling in order to gather those numbers, which suggested that they had.

He looked out into the dark, trying to work out how close they were, and if they were close enough, he would wake Tain. Better safe than too late.

"Wolves," he said calmly, "Looks like they are gathering in order to attack."
