Gone for over 24 and unaccounted

Nate pulled the vehicle into the below-ground garage, parking between two other non-descript black SUV’s. Everything uniform. Everything in its place.

“You good?” Nate asked, opening the back door for his brother. “Medbay can wait til after debriefing?”

“Yea, I’m good.” Vas nodded taking the hood and zip ties off Serena. “See wasn’t so bad.” Vas said brightly to Serena. “I’ll drop Serena here off at Medical and head straight to debriefing.”

“You,” Nate ordered, “Debriefing. I’ll deliver the kid, targets have been questioned as well.”

Vas's shoulders dropped ready to complain but restrained himself enough to only make a grumbling sound. “Yes sir.” He said. Vas tugged a pigtail. “I’ll see you soon Rabbit, you're in good hands.”

“Okay,” Serena replied, though the look she gave him was nothing short of pleading. The garage itself was immense, a dozen gleaming black SUV’s lined up almost perfectly, Four runners, motorcycles, everything in perfect order. Like the city, it was vastly overwhelming. “Thank you again, for everything.”

Nate nudged her towards the elevators, shaking her off as she tried to grab his sleeve. Twice she glanced back to see Vas headed in the opposite direction.

Vas turned giving Serena a reassuring thumbs up before padding down to debriefing.

There were questions for what seemed like hours, intel gathering questions about the bombs, how many, where were they placed, and they were followed by questions which sounded more like an interrogation - how he evaded, what happened to the remaining Erinyes, why didn’t he radio, why did he take so long to contact them. Officials came and went, each bringing with them new sets of questions, until finally Nate stepped into the windowless room. He slid a protein bar and bottle of water across the table, taking the seat across his teammate. “How you holding up?” He asked, eyeing the younger hellhound.

“This is why I like you best!” Vas said taking a bit out of the protein bar. “I don’t know how many ways they can ask the same question differently. More importantly, I dunno how they can stand being in the same room with me. I can smell myself and I barely stand it.” Vas his mood is much better with foot and water. “Seriously any idea how much longer this is going to be? This is turning into a marathon.”

“No clue,” Nate said with a shrug. “You were gone over 24, unaccounted for. My guess is they want to make sure you weren’t compromised. You know, protocol, I’m catching hell for it too. Once we evac’d, they sent in recovery, brought home Jai’s body - couldn’t find yours. Surprised you didn’t cross paths.”
