Island Boys
From one perspective one might agree with Varan's joke about the horror of traveling to a tropical island to close a deal that might take less than a day with a billion credit potential. On the other side of it, he wouldn’t be there soaking in the sun, which would be a shame he found himself rather in pain and greatly disliked tanning booths or spray tans.
The reality was less fun. There would be no real opportunity to enjoy the tropics and when walking into a pit full of hungry vipers you always had to be on guard and that was terrible for one's complexion. If he was going to ruin his skin it would be doing something worth it.
The flight was long but thankfully plush and comfortable, there was a level of expectation and the little things showed that Ari was trying to butter him up. Fine Champagne, nice food, he was flexing. This wasn’t his first time on the island, nor was it his first time dealing with Ari. In spite of the fact that Olin was admittedly a bit of a wild child, he still got the job done closing deals on behalf of his father. In a way, it gave the impression that the deal was being taken seriously.
By the time they were making their approach, Olin freshened up and not thinking too hard about what to pick since Varan had already grouped out a set of outfits for him. Less things to think about meant he could focus and get his head in the game. Checking himself in the mirror and primed his hair just right. Details. They mattered. People like Ari? The type he invited on th island. Extremely judgmental about the small things. Hell, not even he was above weaponizing the small thing if it benefited him.
It was a different world entirely.
He let out a breath, the private plane landing on the airstrip, the golf car waiting outside and he stepped out with a dazzling smile on his face. Time to to put on his best face and charm the hell out of Ari.
Nikita did a double take as Olin stepped off the plane, recognizing him as the DJ from her one and only rave. The Island Girl quickly regained her composure, offering lei’s to all visitors, but as per island protocol, letting them choose to come to her, rather than being too aggressive.
Olin brushed his finger through his hair letting out breath under the warm sun and ocean breeze. He slowed looked at Nikita. “Well, you're a new face.” He noted. Sure he never went as far to tempt the girls too much, he wasn’t a dick that to put their job in jeopardy like that but being a shamless flirt and one of his personality traits. Though … it did oddly make him miss Cyd.
Nikita’s voice caught in her throat, an incredibly warm feeling, like when you put on clothes from the dryer on a cold morning, came over her, and despite this, she shivered slightly. He smelled vaguely like fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, or maybe warm vanilla. “You’re… DJ… Olin,” she said quietly, forgetting they weren’t supposed to identify, let alone address guests by their names unless invited to. “I mean,” she quickly corrected, “lei?” She offered a fragrant flower necklace that just seemed to make his scent even more intoxicating.
“Who doesn't love a lei? I did not expect to be so popular this far away from Arkangel.” Olin said with a smile letting the Island Girl put the string of flowers on him.
Even though he dipped his head down, Nikita still had to stand on her tiptoes to slide the necklace over Olin’s head, her face brushing against his hair, bringing a flush to her cheek. “You DJ’d a rave I went to, she said, her voice slightly faltering as she stepped back.
“My very first, first many I hope.” Olin said giving the flow a sniff with a smile. “I hope to see you around … I didn’t quite catch your name?”
“Nikita,” she answered, offering him a smile. “Please don’t call if you need anything. Er, I mean, don’t hesitate to call if you need anything. Day or night. Enjoy your stay on the island.”
“Nikita, Greek, meaning Unconquered. I will … not hesitate.” Olin said walking to the waiting golf cart.
“Girl, he can conquer me anytime,” Nikita’s counterpart, Erin said, as they watched him walk way.
He gave the Island Girl's a wave before the golf cart started and puttered off to the main compound. He had hoped to be back on the plane at sunset but you never knew with Ari, particularly on his island.
Nikita and Erin giggled slightly before going back to the serious task of handing out leis.
