Skye Life - This party is FIRE
The elevator door opened, ending the conversation as the twins walked out onto the rooftop, people were already arriving and milling about. The tone of the party was pretty clear, there were several ice sculptures with flowers frozen inside, and food was still being laid out, shrimp, fresh fruit, and finger food that probably tasted amazing but had names no one could pronounce. Light-strung cross cras in a canopy lighting the whole place up, and a stack with tall high-end speakers on a platform right in front of the dance floor.
Even a view of the skyline felt expensive. It was perfect, low enough to get all the city lights high enough to be above all the noise. The photographer in the corner gave way that a lot of these photos were going to end up on the host's social media throughout the night.
Mathias and Cyd stuck out. Mathias with the pop of red from his jacket, and Cyd’s entire color scheme, from her aqua colored hair to her vibrant tattoos. It didn’t phase Mathias, it was normal and they didn’t pay extra or give them a dress code. Honestly, most of the time they wanted them walking in looking like hardcore sprawlers. Something about authenticity.
“You need help setting up?” Mathias asks, eyes looking around for the host.
“No, but your fan club is already looking for you,” Cyd said, nodding to a gaggle of rave girls.
“It’s the jacket.” Mathias said with a broad smile. “If you don’t need my help, I'm going to hit the ground running.” He says straightening his jacket collar. “Get this party kicking.”
The party was in full swing shortly after the music dropped. DJ Digi Kitty was in her element. While most of the party-goers… rave didn’t feel right, shuffled to the music or rode red devil waves, there was a small group gathered in one corner that seemed to be shutting everything and everyone out as they did their own thing.
Mathias was busy swapping drugs and making nice with the patrons, an arm around a girl whose dress was so tight it was like was sewed right onto her, as he romanticized the high from the Red Devils. She shyly handed creds and put the wafer in her mouth. It had the desired effect with everyone thinking they had a shot. But this was an art Mathias had long refined. He was laying on the charm to a few girls when he saw something flicker in the corner of his eyes, it was such an out-of-place thing he couldn't help but slow down what he was saying to turn.
Fire … some chick in the corner, her hand had a ball of fire. Mathias balked, his eyes widening. What was that dumbass Jenny doing?! Here? On the friggin rooftop, at a party flashing skills like it was some kind of party trick?! “Sorry, ladies give me a moment … “ He looked over, seeing Cyd in her beat, and searched the crowd for the host. “... not cool this is not cool.” His eyes started to widen as the flame shifted colors.
Cys stopped mid-shuffle, her cat ears flashing pink, blue and green as her eyes scanned the crowd for Mathias. She changed the beat to something a little more trance, a little more mellow, something no one would notice if it continually repeated.
Mathis pushed through the crowd intending on getting to the Jenny to can it as save the flexing for anywhere where head but his step slow when the orange flame when white, he stopped when white became blue and he back peddled hard when it went violet.
Ravers at first crowded around, cheering the girl on. “Mathias….” Cyd said nervously, her voice swallowed up by the music. Something zipped past her, something she couldn’t see, but it sent people flying, knocking over totems.
“Cyd get back …” Mathias yelled as the girl with the violet flames got more and more emboldened. He could hear her laughing just before the radiant heat caused someone next to her to burst into flames. It was about then it all spiraled out of control and the tenuous control she had on her newfound power exploded setting herself and a few more people nearby on violet flames. Instead of simply just quickly snuffing itself out the fire lept out sustaining itself and reaching hungrily, the heat unbearable.
Panicked screams rang out from the rooftop, loud enough to drown out the music, as ravers, some half-stoned out of their minds tried to find the exits and way off the roof. Cyd wasn’t able to see what was going on, but whatever it was, was bad, real bad. “MATHIAS!” She yelled again, climbing on the speakers to try and find the man in the red jacket.
Mathias called out Cyds name but was drowned out by the scream and yelling, as he was pushed and shoved by the crowd trying to jam themselves through the exit. Being both a Raver and Sprawler he wants to have any of his as he shoved folk out of the way to get to the fire.
Braver people were trying to toss water on the people on fire and using fire extinguishers with absolutely zero effect. At least it wasn't making it worse.
This left Mathias in a really difficult position, working in a lab where you learn all the different types of cures and the best way to extinguish them. This … was chemical, and the color narrowed it down some but there were only a handful of ways to stop it. All requiring a specific type of chemical to stop the reaction of a class of extinguisher which wasn't exactly standard. Half the time the best thing to do was to just let the fire burn itself out but obviously, that wasn't an option. Mathias quickly looked around for anything that he could use … a few options started to spring to mind and hopefully, he could do it without setting himself on fire. He tugged his gloves shoving his way to the buffet table.
The girl throwing flames was full on panicking, doing everything she could to try and put the flames out, while Ravers sober enough ran to try and save themselves.
