Inquisitive Queries

Choi wondered how Marina meant the well put together. Did she mean that Choi was well put together or that he wasn’t and seemed out of place with the Dragon. He’d rather it was the first, because he saw himself as being a balanced person.

“Well, I was raised under the tutelage of Master Park at a monastery in Jindo. There they taught me to be balanced in life, minding and managing four areas: mental, physical, spiritual, and social.” The last was most likely why Choi enjoyed working with others. It helped him with the social aspect.

That thought made him think again of Dahlia’s text. What did she mean?

He turned his attention back to Marina. She was attractive, as was Dahlia. In fact Eun-Ji and Alyssa were in their own rights.

“I still do t understand how you took on an assignment like this. You are fit for action, not making sure the factions play nice,” Choi managed to say.

"Exactly, you're too balanced, Kiyota... I've only seen him once while acting as part of a security detail, he didn't seem to have both feet in this reality, ordering a henchman of his to empty a soda can in a specific corner of Shanghai." She seemed to still think about that moment a lot. It truly puzzled her. "You seem like a normal man. Well, as normal as one gets in our line of duty."

She tilted her head and chuckled. "Are you flirting with me Mr. Choi?" She said with an amused tone. "Honestly, being here with you lot might be more action than I'd get on direct assignments by Osorio. Getting anything done in the Council is *slow*." She sighed. "Still, I don't really ask questions, I follow orders. A superior gave me an assignment, and so I wull follow my instructions."

She thought he was flirting with her. He didn’t think he was. Did she take it that way? If she took it that way, he decided he wouldn’t mind.

“I am as normal as they come,” Choi spoke, “but normal is different for everybody. I think they call it baseline behavior in psychology.”

He remembered reading an article on this at the monastery. Everyone has a baseline behavior. If they deviate from that behavior, then there are issues.

“You may have your work cut out for you working with us,” he agreed. “My own partner desires to work mostly on her own. Someone should help her get balanced socially. Maybe you could talk to her for me?”

He glanced her way with a sly grin. If she were to be bringing this team together, she might as well begin with the toughest aspect of that job. During this glance, he couldn’t help but notice her long legs. Maybe I was flirting! he thought.

He pulled into the hotel parking lot. “Looks like we’re here. Just in time for dinner it seems.”

"Eun-Ji, right? She's being asocial? That's always good to know." She nodded, making a mental note of it, always good to know indeed. "I'll definitely try to get some one-on-one time with all of you, see how to best make this 'team' not collapse, if at all possible." She chuckled.

"Good, I like some nice dinner." She said, opening the door and stepping out. Long and toned legs they were. "Let's not keep people waiting, and we should follo up on that man too, whoever he is... I don't like him, too eager to help, leaning too much on the mysterious stranger trope... You shouldn't go see him alone."

“Yes, Eun-Ji,” he affirmed to Marina. “I also agree we should follow-up. I was going to give that update at dinner tonight. So, that means you will be going with, correct?”

They were approaching the room where dinner was to be served. He wondered what was on the menu for tonight. This definitely should be a planning dinner.

"Maybe." She nodded. "Maybe someone else, don't quite know yet, we'll see." She winked. "Let's go and see the rest of the team, shall we? Maybe we'll find out something useful."

At this point, Dahlia was headed to the meeting room where the dinner was to be. She saw Choi Yeong with a new player, Marina. Having no idea who she was, nor why she was present, Dahlia gave Marina a glare.

Choi noticed the tight leather pants and boots up to her knees, along with the leather jacket. Again, we wondered about the text with the winking emoji.

Dahlia turned to Choi with a very friendly smile. “It’s good to be working with you again, Choi.” She lightly brushed against Yeong as she opened the door and entered the room.

“Uh,” Choi stammered to Marina, “that was Dahlia Ben-Aharon.”

Marina watched as Dahlia did the whole thing where she purposefully ignored her, then sighed. Seriously.

"Yes, I saw. She seemed mighty friendly." She rose an eyebrow and stretched her neck. "I'll go talk to her later."

“Sounds good!” Choi smiled. “Shall we join the others?”

Choi opened the door and held it for Marina to enter before him.
