The trackless waste

Having spent the last of their day tending to the badly treated horse, there really is no time to find a good camping spot. They have to settle for a pebble beach alongside a dry arroyo that looks like it hasn't flooded in a decade or more.

The dry brush provides fuel for a fire, but it burns quickly and has to be replenished often leaving mostly ash and very few lasting coals for cooking. The sunset is spectacular and the stars wink into being in the velvet blackness of the night sky almost immediately. The desert cools quickly and in the distance coyotes yip. It's a wonder they had found the tethered horse already. Or maybe they did and it still had the strength to fight them off.

OOC: Right now we have only one player who is posting with regularity (I admit to being a bit patchy myself, so I point no fingers!) Let's say we have two registered players. Do you want to run a small band (a total of 8 guards was suggested) or go on as just the two of you? (which is what I was thinking, having already scaled back the number of bandits you are chasing.)
