The Inevitably of Tragedy (JP pt 3)

Township of Story, Wyoming

The sight of the girl pushed Sophia's emotions overboard, shoved her mind off that metaphorical cliff. She didn't even realized what she was doing until it was too late. Her feet seemed to move on their own as one hand shot out and the rope around the girl shredded. Wind had sharpened, flew out and saved the girl, even keeping her from hitting the ground hard.

Stomps could be heard, fabric ruffling as Sophia rushed toward Dominic and forced a power gust of wind to hit him. It was strong enough to knock over any man his size. Items all around fell, the wind like a pulse wave at it hit others in her attempt to reach the man. All she saw was red, pure and raw red rage.

As wind shot around and cut at EAST operatives, she pulled out her bone dagger and slashed it at the man just as she got close enough.

Honey barked and howled as she rushed along, trying to stop her companion. It was difficult to fight the wind swirling off the girl, causing even the most steady of individuals to struggle. The emotions that hung in the air matched the rage of the wind as it picked up and broke almost everything it touched.

And above was a quickly forming funnel in the clouds above.

As things were setting a new low as an example of what a lack of honor looked like, Perrine was keying in on the terrible conversation taking place on the gallows. He quickly connected the dots in his mind and without showing much emotion or hustle, calmly finished a trade then unhitched Luna. Her instructions were to walk out of town. He ignored the sickening sounds and noises coming from the gallows as he walked to the back of his wagon and pulled out his emergency pack, shouldered it, and started walking away. He left the wagon and all it’s collected goodies to the people of Story.

Perrine had no idea that Sophia had disregarded his caution and gone back on her word to stay away. Yet, her actions suddenly worked in his favor. The commotion she was causing sucked up every ounce of attention. He didn’t question what was going on, but opportunistically took advantage of the misdirection.

Perrine, now far enough away from the square, quickly mounted the anxious Luna and rode away at a pace slow enough not to cause suspicion, and fast enough to show he had purpose to escape the oncoming forming tornado.

***
Chaos erupted as hundreds of people trampled over each other to escape the ensuing fire fight. Dominic didn't even feel it when that gust of wind hit him, it was just lights out. He regained conscious and immediately felt a searing pain in his forearm. His operatives were engaging what looked like a wolf, and there was a... very pale woman swinging a dagger at him. *Duck.*

Dominic went sliding across the pavement as the wind gusts continued to pulse from the girl. He needed to get behind her, so the gusts would suck him in. Fucking mutants... he *hated* fighting mutants. He pulled his pistol from it's holster and fired right at the girl, but the wolf jumped between them, shielding the girl from the bullet.

Upon seeing the pistol, Honey was fast, pushed through the gusts of wind and got hit on her back left leg with a loud and pain filled yelped. This sound seemed to bring Sophia back to reality, the wind slowing as she watched her companion fall to the ground in what felt like slow motion. "Honey!" She yelled out as the wolf-dog tumbled to the ground and landed on her injured side. Dropping to her knees, the white haired woman rushed over to the wolf and pressed a hand to her face. "Oh, God, Honey..." It was obvious she had completely forgotten Dominic now.

The wind slowed further until it finally stopped, the circulation of the clouds above following soon after. All weather calmed down and left the chaotic aftermath.

***
Dominic capitalized on the moment instantly, driving his right boot into the young girl's head from behind with as much force as he could muster. The girl was knocked unconscious, and the wolf appeared to be dead.

"They can make tornados now? These fucking abominations need to be dead yesterday. Goddam..." Dominic mumbled as he limped back to Duke, "Tranq that bitch and box her up. Doc will wanna see her for sure." Dominic commanded his men, "Now Robert, where is the tra-"

Duke was laying on his side, staring blankly into the distance. Dominic tracked his gaze to the stoplight where his daughter was hanging lifeless. The stool had been knocked away at some point during the fight.

"What a shame. There goes my leverage." Dominic grumbled. Afterward he had Duke and Sophia transported back to Cheyenne. Doc had said to send as many live captures as could find and arrest. These two would do nicely, a welcome pay day. There was no reason to stay here now, his next stop was Sheridan.
