Perrine paused a moment to see if Sophia would change her tune. His high caliber of empathy not completely convinced she was saying exactly what she wanted to. Humans were different in that regard to other animals. Other creatures say and do what they mean, only humans seemed to choose do otherwise; it kept Perrine on his toes around them. He glanced at Honey to get a more accurate read.

With Sophia’s statement not being overturned, he nodded and gave them both a bow goodbye. Perrine then whimpered something to Honey. He was letting the wolf know that he was going to station his mouse friend at the stone stairs as a spy to make sure all went well. Please do not eat my friend. Friend, not food. He then waved goodbye to everyone else present.

When he was out of sight up the curving stone stairs, Perrine pulled out Peekaboo and squeaked instructions to spy on those below. With him going upward, the mouse went back down and stopped on the stairs and peeked around the edge. Peekaboo tried her best to stay out of sight as much as possible.
