No Admittance, Yet
Underground Mutant Community - Wyoming
As Perrine and Sophia, accompanied by her faithful wolf Honey, approached the rock barrier wall entrance to the underground hidden mutant community, they were met by a welcoming committee of mutants who served as gatekeepers. Among them was Malik, a tall and stern figure, his eyes reflecting surprise as he recognized Perrine descending from above, where the community received much-needed supplies.
Malik stepped forward, his hand held up as a signal to halt. "Perrine, what brings you here?" he asked with genuine astonishment, his gaze shifting to Sophia and Honey.
Perrine, who could speak but often chose not to, reached for his journal, preparing to communicate in writing. He scribbled a message to the gatekeepers. "This is Sophia, and her wolf Honey. They seek refuge. I vouch for them. Cynthia, John, and Lydia... Do you know where they are?"
Malik, still somewhat surprised, spoke, "Cynthia, John, and Lydia are busy at the moment. But I'm afraid I can't give you any more details."
Tessa, standing beside Malik, regarded Sophia and Honey with a thoughtful expression. She spoke softly, "I'm sorry, Perrine, we can't allow the wolf inside. It's a risk to the community. And she must be vetted by Lydia. You know the rules."
Perrine's brow furrowed as he continued writing, determined to plead Sophia's case. "I vouch for the wolf and Sophia. They mean no harm. They are here for a specific reason. Sophia is searching for someone important to her who is already inside."
Malik nodded, understanding the urgency, but still firm in upholding the rules. "I understand, Perrine. But the wolf stays outside."
Tessa nodded in agreement, her voice gentle yet resolute. "We will have to wait until Cynthia, John, or Lydia can assess the situation."
With a heavy heart, Perrine turned to Sophia and conveyed the situation to her through written words, trying to reassure her that they would have to be patient and await the leaders' decision. The entrance remained sealed, a reminder that even in a world of mutants, some rules were not to be bent, but hope remained that a solution could be found. This whole situation reminded Perrine why he preferred the open air and the wild.
In a moment of desperation, Perrine, after writing his previous message, looked at Malik and Tessa. "Would it be possible for me to enter and find someone who can approve Sophia and Honey? It may speed up the process. I know someone who could vouch for her."
Malik and Tessa exchanged glances, considering Perrine's request. After a brief discussion, Malik nodded and said, "All right, Perrine. Go find the person you need, but make it quick."
Perrine nodded in reluctant agreement, realizing that this might be the best way to ensure Sophia and Honey's entrance into the community. He turned to Sophia and her wolf, writing one last message in his journal, reassuring them that he'd return as swiftly as possible. He awaited their response before proceeding. We’re they going to continue to go through with their goal or would they decide another path?
