The reply

The Skywalker Corps responded promptly, though their reply was not what Dr. Varnic’ahri’nalor had hoped for. They cited that Astra was an adult and therefore no longer under the direct care or jurisdiction of the Corps. Any assistance she required, they stated, would have to come from her adoptive family, the Mith.

However, the Corps acknowledged the gravity of the situation and had already taken the initiative to reach out to the Mith family on Astra’s behalf. The family, they assured Varnic, would be informed of the circumstances and should be contacting the Chimaera shortly.

Though relieved that the Mith family would be involved, Varnic couldn’t help but feel frustrated by the bureaucratic nature of the response. Astra’s condition was unique, and her circumstances as a human Skywalker navigating Chiss expectations were far from ordinary. He only hoped the Mith family would recognize this and take immediate action.

The Mith were one of the Nine Ruling Families of the Ascendancy, known for their influence, resources, and commitment to their adopted members. Astra, as a merit adoptive, was part of their extended family, which meant they had a vested interest in her well-being—not just as a navigator, but as a representative of their house. Varnic hoped that their involvement would bring Astra the support she so desperately needed.

For now, all he could do was wait. The Chimaera continued its journey through the Unknown Regions, and Astra, though recovered from her recent collapse, was still under strict orders to rest. The days ahead would reveal whether the Mith family’s intervention would make a difference—or whether Astra’s struggles would remain hers to bear alone.
