D'Virr - A trade in services

D’Virr had remained seated near to the old fountain in the town center for almost the measure of the day looking on as the world around her passed by at its own steady pace. Her gaze turning skyward as she took notice that the sun now hung low over the rooftops and the shadows of the day stretched a fair distance to signaling that evening was not too far off.

Her thoughts turned then to seeking out lodgings for the night, or perhaps better a place to stay for the next several nights given that she did not know how long she would remain here and in her past experience in other townships much akin to this one that they did not care much for those who wandered the streets at night. A human bias no doubt given that they tended to be all but blind after sunset.

It was as D’Virr was reflecting upon what needed to be done that a local woman dressed in a commoners dress who was a good measure larger than herself in multiple dimensions appeared, taking a seat on the stone fountain next to her. An attractive woman of fair features by human standards coupled with a ready and blessed (or perhaps cursed) with a chest of more than ample proportions who turned to D’Virr after she let out a long breath before turning her attention to the elf with a look of mild amusement as she spoke.

“ I don’t think I’ve ever seen an elf maiden with hair as white as yours nor skin as dark.” She announced in a good humored voice that was not entirely unpleasant to the ears.

“Perhaps this is not all that surprising given that not many of my kind are known to travel this far west.” D’Virr offered politely.

The woman gave her a warm smile and a soft laugh escaping her lips. “I’m told by one of my girls that you're a priestess or healer of some skill?”

“I have some small talent in the healing arts.” D’Virr acknowledged pleasantly.

“My girl says you have more than a small talent, she tells me that you were able to cure the pains in her belly and the burning in her lyons that's been causing her problems for the last few days.” The woman spoke plainly.

D’Virr nodded her understanding.” A good many have been suffering from a discomfort in the belly brought about by spoiled meat that was poorly prepared and a fair number of young ladies I have attended today seem to have picked up a rather painful infection of the bowls as well.”

The woman nodded in turn. “ One of the food vendors in beggars row no doubt has been selling tainted meat for the last several days I’d wager and has gotten a lot of my regulars pretty sick these last few days. As for the burning infection … “

“ It was the fair haired minstrel from Cloverleaf I’ve been told.” D’Virr offered.

“Indeed...” The woman sighed frowning her annoyance at the news.“ The pig headed bastard has cost me both a good entertainer and my girls several nights worth of business due to his sickness.”

“I was told he was run out of town before I arrived.” D’Virr sighed. “ I would have liked to deal with this problem at its source but it seems it was not to be.”

The Woman nodded.”I wouldn’t say he was run out of town so much as he snuck out of town in the early morning hours before anyone figured out who was responsible. Speaking of which, can you play that instrument you’re hauling there?” She said motioning to the Lute that was strapped to D’Virr’s pack.

“ I have some small talent.” D’Virr acknowledged pleasantly.

The woman smirked, nodding her understanding of the joke.

“ So my name is Brunhilda, and I run that little olde tavern across the way there. If you're interested and don’t object to the kind of business I’m running. I can offer you a warm bed and meals for the next week or two in exchange for you looking after the health of my girl's as well as that of my customers. I can even offer you a safe place to play your instrument for tips at night if you're interested?”

” I am called D’Virr…” She offered extending her hand to the woman name Brunhilda . “ And I am at your service.”
