JP - Morning at the Hotel
When morning finally arrived, Cody grumbled as his alarm went off on his phone. As he tried to find it on the table, he would fall, eliciting a yelp as he did so. “OWW!”
Tzeitel woke up in a flash, sleeves already shoved up past her elbows and the oil wiped across Ami’s sleeping face before her feet had even hit the floor. “What happened?” Tzeitel asked, a hand in the nightstand where she kept a gun.
“I just fell,” Cody called, waving a hand up at her. “Ugh, I gotta start remembering that I sleep on the couch.” Though, he had done the same thing multiple times with a normal bed too, so it really didn’t matter.
“Are you okay?” Tzeitel asked, kneeling next to Cody.
Ami sat up and sleepily yawned.
“I will be,” Cody said with a chuckle. “You know me, this is normal.” He stared up at her. “Might want to go wake up Colt. I think he probably had to endure sleeping in the same hotel room as Annie and Joel.” He made a gagging motion of disgust.
“Poor guy.” Tzeitel was thinking about more than just last night of poor Colt not sleeping well. She went to the bathroom to get dressed quickly and headed to Colt’s room.
Ami flopped back on the bed and back to sleep.
“Wish I could do that,” Cody muttered, looking at Ami. Sleep was not going to happen again for him until later. Getting up, he made some coffee.
Colt would open the door while only in a pair of pants, pushing back his wild silver hair. “Hm? Hey, Tzeitel, what’s up?” He asked, obviously still tired looking. “You okay?”
Tzeitel was pretty sure she saw a hickey on Colt and blushed. She fidgeted wit the stuff in her pocket. “I don’t know… Ami was really upset last night.”
“Any idea why?” Colt asked as he stepped out so he wouldn’t wake his cousin and Joel. Closing the door, he pocketed his key to the room.
“I don’t know… she has seen me in worse shape than I was last night. I’d gotten myself together from the workout and sober by the time I saw her last night.” Tzeitel said.
Colt scratched a shoulder where marks were. “She learn anything new? Heard something? I know you don’t want her knowing your…history. Hell, I don’t want her knowing mine.” He said with a grunt.
“I don’t think she could have learned anything new.” Tzeitel said, trying to ignore that she could see the scratches on Colt. “I keep my file locked up, nobody is going to tell her anything.”
“I just had James burn mine,” Colt shrugged and slipped his hands into the pockets of his pants. “You okay? You keep…uh…blushing.”
“Maybe I should destroy mine too.” Tzeitel frowned. “You have scratches all over yourself, Colt. And a hickey.”
“Oh,” Colt chuckled nervously. “Yeah, the blond was a bit scratch crazy…” He rubbed at his shoulder where a nasty cut was. “Girl was a bitch and we honestly didn’t do anything.” Shrugging, he walked to Tzeitel’s room with her. “Want me to talk to Ami, see if I can figure out what’s got her so upset? Or Cody might know.”
“I worry about you, Colt.” Tzeitel doubted that they did not do anything. She wished she had not been right about Feng all along, the crazy bitch hurt him in the long run. She was worried he would end up with someone who would really hurt him. “I guess you can try talking to her… I told her I would call Leimomi today.”
“I’m fine, Tzeitel,” Colt said with a smile. “I’m not gonna get close to anyone like I did Feng. Heard somewhere she lost her shit and…well, Bao is in a better place now.” He looked away, not really wanting to talk about it. He was still furious and hurt all at once because of what happened.
“What?!” Tzeitel grabbed Colt’s arm. “What do you mean? Where’s Bao?”
Colt just kept silent, a sad look in his eyes. He didn’t want to speak the words, feeling it would make them far too permanent. “I…I can’t…” He choked on his words, looking away again. “I should have tried to keep him…”
“Oh, Colt.” Tzeitel whispered, horrified as she understood. She wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug. “I’m so sorry.”
Colt went stiff, part of him wanting to run and hide, but this was Tzeitel. This was his best friend. Hugging her back, he let out a deep breath. “I’ll…I’ll be okay…eventually.”
Tzeitel did not think Colt could ever be okay. She knew he loved his son. “You know I’m here for you, Colt.”
Colt merely touched his forehead to hers, the only way he could tell her he knew without speaking. If he tried at the moment, he knew what would happen and he couldn’t risk falling apart right now.
“Need any pheromones?” Tzeitel asked. She wished there was more she could do. She knew if she lost Cody or Ami or her godchildren she would not be able to hold it together… It was hard enough losing Bao and she did not spend as much time with Colt’s son as she wished. Feng was… well, Feng was a bitch and made it clear in her crazy ways that Tzeitel was not welcome in their home. But she loved little Bao.
Colt shook his head and took a few calming breaths as he stepped back. “I’m fine, Tzeitel.” He said and smiled at her.
Klaire walked by, the twins close behind. “Get packed, we may be leaving soon. James finally went to speak with the front desk about the sound issues we’re all having.”
“You mean the sound issues you were making?” Tzeitel asked, kind of relieved to have the subject changed. She squeezed Colt’s hand and headed into her room. “Kids, we’re leaving soon- make sure you have everything together.”
Riley approached Klaire carrying cups of coffee "figured you three would need some pick me ups, we're all packed up need help?
Klaire flipped off Tzeitel and stuck her tongue out, obviously joking with her. Taking the coffee, she nodded. “Thanks…again, I suggest we all get packed. I’m pretty sure James is going to set this place on fire…”
Cody poked his head out of their room. “Who’s turn is it to wake up Piritta?”
“I can wake her up.” Ami volunteered.
Piritta snored innocently.
Tzeitel grabbed the few things that were not already packed and stuffed them into a bag.
"Just be careful Ami" Riley Warned her.
Ami very carefully crept up onto the nightstand, launched herself into the air and landed on Piritta’s head.
“PERKELE!”
“Piritta’s up. You better have another coffee!” Tzeitel called to Riley as she carried hers and Ami’s bags from their room.
Colt laughed at the yell. “Your sister is a daredevil, Tzeitel.” He said and helped her with the bags. “I’m gonna go pack and I’ll see you outside, okay?”
“Okay, seeya in a little while Colt.” Tzeitel said, going back to her room to help Cody with his bags.
Piritta playfully wrestled Ami and tossed her out of the room so she could put on enough clothes to satisfy the hotel’s hallway dress code. She already had everything packed so she shouldered her large backpack and scooped up Cody’s bag of books on the fly.
