JP - Gelf, I wanna go Home
Yule tried to relax in her own bed now, but found sleep almost impossible. She was tossing and turning and any time she did sleep, she’d wake up screaming and crying. Looking around the room, it always took her a moment to realize where she was and when. “Gelf, I wanna go home…” She whispered, missing her sister and hating that she never kept in touch properly.
Haven did not know what to say, Yule was the one with hopes of escape. She was so distraught Haven did not want to point out that she was not Gelf.
Yule looked over at Haven. “S-sorry…I’m just…I miss Gelf. I wish she was here and could just teleport us out.” She whimpered.
“Me too.” Haven sighed. Right now teleportation sounded like the best power ever.
“I can’t go back to sleep…” Yule shook her head, covering her face with her hands. It was too difficult to go back to sleep when the nightmares stepped in.
“I know what you mean.” Haven sighed, swinging her feet to the floor.
That was when Yule hopped out of bed and rushed to their little bathroom where she promptly vomited into the toilet.
Haven sighed, then felt like throwing up herself. She got up, hands clasped over her mouth.
Since she was done, Yule flushed the toilet and gestured to Haven that she could have it.
Haven dropped to her knees by the toilet and vomited. “So much for the pills…” She groaned.
Yule nodded and froze when the door opened. “W-what is it?” She asked the two guards that walked in. They looked tired and as if they weren’t here for anything but following orders.
“We’re taking you to the breeding program sector.” The guard said with a sigh.
“No! You can’t!” Haven looked worriedly at Yule. Would outing her as already pregnant help? The breeding program would not have as high of security until they realized she was pregnant and Yule might still have a chance at escaping with Lyle. Haven hated the idea of being separated from her friend.
Yule bit her bottom lip. “I…I’m already…”
“You’re already…?” The guard raised an eyebrow. “Why do you both look like you’ve been sick?” He was one of the few men that was kind and never harmed them. There were dark circles under his eyes due to the fact he couldn’t actually help anyone.
“We’re sick… We probably should stay here.” Haven said. “Lyle wanted us to be left alone…”
The guard got the hint and nodded. “Of course,” He replied. “I’ll make sure to report that.” Offering them a kind smile, he left.
“He reminds me of that Cook guy…” Yule said after the door closed and locked. “Thank you for the save, Haven.”
“I didn’t want to be alone in here either.” Haven shrugged. “You would have done the same for me.”
Yule nodded and wanted so badly to hug Haven, but she knew how the redhead felt about being touched. Tears were falling down her face. “Thank you…” She sniffled. Everything seemed to be crashing down on them and she wasn’t like her sister, Gelf. She wasn’t tough or brave…
“It’s okay…” Haven tried to comfort Yule while keeping more than an arm’s length away from her. “We still have that reprieve from Lyle, and maybe he will even get us out of here.”
“I really hope he does.” Yule said and went to her bed, sitting down on it. “At least that guard was nice enough to play along…”
“We can’t keep it a secret if any more guards come in. He realized what was wrong, others can too.” Haven said.
“If he’s putting us under quarantine, they won’t be coming in here. Last time I got sick, they only slid food and some medicine into the room each day, but refused to step inside to retrieve anything.” Yule explained.
“I hope so. Or they might try to send a doctor in to find out what’s wrong with us.” Haven shivered.
“Lets hope not…” Yule shuddered in fear.
Haven stretched out on her bed since there was not much else to do. “I wish I could go to sleep and wake up back in the village.”
Yule curled up under her blanket. "Tell me the stories of the kids you watched from your window again, please?" She asked, despite having heard them dozens of times from Haven. The stories calmed her and made her feel hope, but they also made her feel a little happy. They were the only times she ever joked.
Haven did not understand why Yule thought the stories were so great, she never interacted with the kids, she just watched them. But it was life outside of this hell. Haven put her hands behind her head. “Which one do you want to hear about? That healing kid that grew six years in two days?”
Yule giggled. "Surprise me."
Haven smiled at the giggle, glad that Yule was feeling well enough to giggle. She closed her eyes as she summoned the happy memories. “Ami, the one who was the smaller version of Tzeitel, and Cody, the healer, had found a croquet set. This was before Cody had healed too many people too much and was still around ten or eleven. I don’t think either kid had ever played before but Ami seemed to know what she was doing and was standing there with her hands on her hips bossing Cody around, telling him where to place all the wickets. She was so little, I think Cody was cracking up as he was trying to place the wickets just so.”
Yule smiled and would slowly fall asleep to Haven’s soft voice, which strangely reminded her a lot of Gelf. They both had a nice tone that was comforting to her. She would not wake up for hours.
After Haven could tell Yule had fallen asleep she went silent and stared at the ceiling. Eventually she would fall asleep.
Thankfully, they would be left alone until Lyle and the others returned. The only one that would visit was the kind guard who had told them the girls were sick. He would bring real food he stole from the good parts of the building along with some vitamins and other things they needed. He was no fool. He knew they were pregnant, but he found no reason to tell on them because he wanted out just as much.
