JP - Uno
Yule couldn’t help but smile, thankful for Lyle. He had always been kind, a lot like that poor Cook guy that died over five years ago.
Lyle waited for the men to leave before letting out a sigh and putting his eyepatch back on. "Sorry for the language I'm not actually planning on forcing myself on you too or anyone else but claiming you guys is the only way no to keep you left alone. There's been a slight change of plans so I have to go on a mission for a week. But between the claim and having you guys be put on fake antibiotics will keep you untouched until I get back."
Haven finally dared to look. “Th-thank you.” She stammered.
Lyle smiled at her "I'm going to get you out of here Haven I promise and when I do we'll have a barbecue I remember Juliet told me once your favorite food was turkey legs right?"
“Smoked turkey legs.” Haven said, remembering it like it was a different life.
"I'll make sure we'll have plenty of those for you as well" he replied "in the meantime stay close to Yule until I get back."
Yule nodded. “Sure, but…what about Bella?” She asked, speaking of the dog girl that never seemed to know she was a meta, only a dog.
"I'll have her transferred to your room will you be able to keep an eye on her while I'm gone?" Lyle asked.
“I dunno if you can have her sent here, Lyle…” Yule replied, worry in her eyes. “They’re planning to hand her over to someone as…as a pet. We don’t know where or how, but they do.”
"Great what sick bastard are they planning on giving her too?" Lyle sighed.
“I don’t know…” Yule’s ears fell back. “They left before I could hear at the time.”
Lyle reached up and petted her head "we're not abandoning her worst case scenario we have to grab her after we escape but we're not going to give up."
Yule nodded. “Be careful, Lyle…” She told him.
"I'll be fine I've got Anna watching my back" he replied heading to the door "between us I think she's sweet on me."
“I didn’t think he could stop them…” Haven said, still having a hard time believing what had just happened.
Yule nodded in agreement and Lyle's words clicked. She burst out laughing, falling back onto the bed and kicking her legs. "Anna? Sweet on him?! She hates humans!" She kept laughing. "Oh the irony of that would be brilliant!"
Haven managed to smile weakly and hushed Yule. “Shh, you don’t want to attract the guard.”
Yule quieted down and held a hand over her mouth as she continued to laugh softly. “Sorry, it’s just too funny.” She whispered. “Wanna play cards or chess again? I’ve still got those Uno cards.”
“Uno would be good.” Haven said, just wanting something to distract herself.
Hopping off the bed, Yule retrieved her box the cards were hidden in and returned to Haven. Setting the game up, she got to playing Uno with her friend, happy for the distraction as well.
“Do you really think he can get us out of here?” Haven asked Yule as she looked at her cards.
“I don’t know, but I’m willing to have a little hope.” Yule answered.
“I hope they really will leave us alone for a week.” Haven said, glancing at the door as if expecting soldiers to barge in at any moment.
“I’ll do what I can if they try to bother us…but I think Lyle really scared them off.” Yule explained and looked toward the door as well. “I’m more worried about that sweet girl, Bella…”
“They dehumanized Bella even more than us.” Haven said sadly. “I hate to think what is being done to her.”
“I know, poor thing…” Yule felt horrible for Bella, but at least the dog-girl was naive and unaware of all the bad things going on. She thought of herself as a dog and believed it, so she acted like one. She just hoped whoever she was given to would be kind to her.
Haven felt a surge of nausea and took another of the pills. “What are you actually going to do if you get out of here?”
“I dunno…try to live my life to the fullest?” Yule shrugged, having to take a pill as well. Her stomach was doing flips for more reasons than just being pregnant.
“I don’t even know what to do…” Haven looked at her cards. “I was living in a meta village but I mostly stayed in my room. I had a choker but i didn’t trust it to keep me from hurting anyone.”
“Maybe we can figure something out together.” Yule said with a kind smile toward her. “You’re my friend and I’ll help you.”
Haven fidgeted with her cards. “Thanks…” Her eyes flicked from her cards to Yule’s stomach, then back at her cards.
“We’ll be okay, Haven.” Yule set her hand down on the bed, the best she could do to comfort the red head without touching her. “I’m here for you. Remember? I promised the day we were put in here together that I’d help you.”
“I know.” Haven sighed. She hoped Lyle came through for them. She did not know if she and Yule could survive another disappointment or loss of hope.
There was a loud knock at the door and two trays of food were slid into the room through the bottom slot on the floor. “It’s already morning?” Yule asked and looked at the clock, which was sadly broken. “Oh, right…broken.”
“It’s easy to lose track of time when you’re not being raped all night.” Haven said, picking up the trays.
Yule took one of the trays and looked disgusted by the sad excuse for food they always gave them. “Well, it’s better than nothing…” She muttered and laughed softly.
“I don’t know… nothing doesn’t smell this bad.” Haven grimaced.
“Yeah, point made…” Yule grimaced and took the bread off her own tray. At least that was still good.
“So much for going keto this week.” Haven said, eating her own bread.
“Yeah,” Yule smiled a little at the joke and ate her own bread, leaving both their trays by the door.
Haven sat on her bed. “How long do you think we can hide… this-” She gestured to their stomachs. “From those bastards?”
“I don’t know…they’ll notice when we start showing…” Yule said, touching her own stomach in dismay. “I know I’m already at least…maybe…two months along. Before I know it, I’ll be showing and they’ll…” She didn’t want to think about it.
“I don’t know if we can keep it secret from them for another week…” Haven fretted. “If they find out before we escape they’ll put us in more secure rooms.”
“That’s what the medicine is for.” Yule told her. “I’ll keep it well hidden and we’ll be careful.” She promised.
“That won’t keep up from showing… or if they decide to randomly test us.” Haven had been tested for pregnancy in the past, she had fortunately not been pregnant before.
“Lyle has made sure they won’t bother us,” Yule said. “We have to have some hope, okay?”
Haven was trying, but it had been a long five years of unending hell. She nodded and hugged her pillow.
