JP - We need Colt!

“She used to shower in the dark when I first met her.” Ami told Cody unhappily.

"Yeah, I heard about that when they were talking a few years ago." Cody replied. "That worries me."

“She’s not drinking, or hurting herself at the gym.” Ami pointed out, though she knew that the drinking and overexertion, like showering in the dark, were all symptoms of a greater problem.

“I think she’s going through what they call a…relapse.” Cody explained and sat down. “Though, if they’re able to get James back and he’s deeply injured, I’m helping him. I don’t care how much mom protests, I won’t let Aunt Klaire lose someone else she loves.”

"I wish she'd let you heal her scars." Ami said. "She wouldn't have to see them or shower in the dark."

Cody nodded. He’d been tempted to do it one night without her noticing because he just couldn’t stand seeing Tzeitel like this.

"Scars take less energy than fresh wounds, right?" Ami asked.

Cody nodded. “Yeah, especially since most of it is just surface stuff. I mean, I can get rid of the scarring that’s deep down in the tissue of the body, but that takes a little more time and concentration. I also want to help fix all those healed fractures she has.”

"Do you think they're still hurting her?" Ami asked.

“I don’t know…I hope not.” Cody replied.

“How can we get her to let you help her?” Ami fretted.

“I’m not sure. We’ll figure that out.” Cody told her and went to the door. “I do know that I intend to help Colt heal up. It’ll take a few sessions of healing and me probably eating more food than I ever have before, but he needs it.”

Ami nodded. “We need him, especially Tzeitel.”

“I wish she’d stop pushing him away when all he’s doing is loving her…” Cody commented before heading off to Colt’s room.

Ami followed Cody. “I wish she would stop pushing everyone away.”

“You can say that again…” Cody replied as he knocked on Colt’s door and stepped inside. The wind user was sitting in his bed, leaning back against the lifted half and still asleep. A soft muttered escaped him and he seemed to flinch, but didn’t wake up.

“I hate seeing him so badly hurt.” Ami whispered.

Going over to Colt, the healer grabbed a chair and put it close to the bed where he sat down and settled a hand on the wind user’s arm. “Okay…this will exhaust me. Think you can get me some food, Ami?” He asked as his power started to work its magic. It would heal Colt, which was the best he could do for now - it would take the pain away and give him back his strength, but he would still have scars. Hopefully, they would be able to get rid of the scars later, though.

Ami nodded and watched Cody working. Before Ami’s meta powers developed she used to wish to either be a pyro or a healer. A lot of the time she thought Cody’s power was more valuable.

As Cody healed him, Colt seemed to relax a bit more. The pain was ebbing away and he was looking far less like he’d just been thrown in a fire, despite the scars the burns were leaving behind. The one cat ear he still had twitched while the other, mostly torn off, did the same, but less notably.

When he had done all he could for the night, Cody pulled his hand away and looked exhausted. “Food…” He groaned.

Ami helped Cody into a chair and got Cody started with some granola bars while she summoned a nurse.

Cody ate the granola bars and waited for Ami, watching Colt. “Hope it helps…”

Just before Ami returned, Colt would be waking up with a groan. “Hmmm…” He groaned and sat up.

Ami returned with a tray piled high with food. “Here you go, Cody!”

“Thanks!” Cody said and happily ate. The boy could pack a lot of food and never gain weight due to his power burning all the calories so fast.

Colt looked at them and blinked. “What are you two doing in here?” He asked.

Ami looked guilty. She knew Tzeitel would not be happy about Cody using his powers so much. “Tzeitel needs you…”
