JP - Want to have a Kid?
Sorley let Gelf pull him from the room with a wave ‘bye’ to Evie and Kiana. “I didn’t think Evie would want a guy touching her.” He said as they walked away from the room.
“To Evie, you’re not a guy.” Gelf explained. “You’re family.”
“I guess. When I was a kid and… when that bad stuff happened to me… I just didn’t have family back then.” He squeezed Gelf’s hand. “Evie and I didn’t start off on the right foot, I’m glad she trusts me.”
“She lived with us for a while, so of course she trusts you.” Gelf said and hugged him gently. “So, were you wanting to talk about things now?”
“Yeah.” Sorley blushed lightly, finding themselves in the room they had spent the night. “You want to have a kid?”
“Yes, I do,” Gelf said with a smile. “Is…is that a bad thing?”
“No… we just never talked about it before.” Sorley blushed more. “I’d just always been so careful about not getting you pregnant I never thought about us doing it on purpose.” He turned a shade redder.
"Well, what do you think of having a child?" Gelf asked softly, gently touching his face in a loving manner. "Even if you're not ready we can wait."
"I want you to be happy." Sorley said, remembering how happy she looked with the children earlier. And while he never put much thought towards being a father he also saw that he was not terrible with children. He put his hand on her arm, leaning slightly to her touch. "I'm only worried about something going wrong and you getting hurt." He remembered his foster sister and that familiar haunted look came to his eyes.
“We have doctors that can help me get through things like a pregnancy now.” Gelf said with a smile. “I’ll be okay. I just know I will.”
Sorley still looked worried. He gently took Gelf’s hand and rubbed her palm with his thumb. “When we’re… er… we have to be careful. See the doctors… I can’t lose you.” Sorley said softly, kissing Gelf’s hand.
“You won’t lose me, Sorley,” Gelf said, giving him a loving smile. “I’ll always be here.”
“Just… promise me you won’t take any risks with your health.” Sorley pleaded, he never asked Gelf to promise him anything before. He had seen how Gelf’s eyes lit up with the children earlier, how happy she was, he would never deny her anything that made her happy and he was starting to like the idea of being the father of her child. But if he lost Gelf, Sorley knew it would destroy him.
“I promise, Sorley,” Gelf told him, face serious. “And if you ever get worried we can always come to a doctor and get me checked out, okay? I’m not going to ever leave you, especially if we have a child that needs us both in their life.”
Sorley nodded and hugged Gelf tight. “You’re going to be a great mother. I love you so much.”
“I love you too, Sorley,” Gelf replied, returning the hug and smiling as her tail swayed. “Wanna check on Yule, Haven, and that new girl?”
“I guess… Though the new girl probably doesn’t want me anywhere near her.” Sorley said, holding Gelf for a moment longer, enjoying the smell of her hair and comforted by the feel of her heartbeat telling him she was here and okay. Finally Sorley reluctantly released Gelf from the hug. “I love you so much.” He said again huskily, taking Gelf’s hand.
“And I love you so much,” Gelf replied, happy to hold his hand. “We’ll figure something out and make sure she understands who you are. You’re nothing like your father was. You, Sorley, are a very good man.”
Sorley blushed. “I guess… But for now if she doesn’t want me in there I’ll leave.”
“I understand,” Gelf nodded. “Maybe you can find somewhere to relax. I’m sure they have a pool here somewhere.”
“Swimming would be nice.” Sorley admitted. He squeezed Gelf’s hand as they left the room.
“Would you rather do that while I visit Yule?” Gelf asked, giving him an out so he wouldn’t feel so uncomfortable around the women in that room.
“Okay.” Sorley said. He would like to be with Gelf, but he did not want to make anyone uncomfortable. Especially not a victim of his father. He kissed Gelf’s cheek. “I’ll see you later.”
