JP - Welcome to Hellscape
Cook dug through the bag and tossed Riley a box of protein bars. “We’ll wait a bit so you can get some rest and we can keep an eye on Anastasia here. She’s lost a lot of blood…and that worries me.”
Riley nodded and set the bars aside. As much as he wanted to and knew he had to eat he just couldn't stomach food at the moment "she might have some augmentations to help her heal but we should still give her the medicine when she wakes up" he spoke knowing that took new he didn't just mean the antibiotics and painkillers. Laying down next Anastasia he wrapped his arms around her protectively before closing his eyes.
Hours would pass before they would hear an odd sound coming from down the tunnel of the cave toward the entrance. There was a bit of hissing and snaps as clawed feet made their way toward the group. Shadowy figures arrived, practically glowing the water’s light that it seemed to magically produce.
“Who are they?” Cook asked, keeping himself between both Min and Elizabeth and the creatures.
Min warily watched the creatures. She hoped they were not dangerous. She was not sure if she could even walk, much less run.
Riley woke up in pain and feeling exhausted. Standing up he placed himself between the group and the creatures.
One of the creatures stood up, taking the form of a human and looked at Riley. “Esther knows you’re here…” It said in multiple voices. “She sent us to retrieve you and…your friends.” The other creatures chittered and clicked in response, as if agreeing. Some of them gaze toward Min, taking on the forms of fluffy dogs, cats, and other animals in the hopes of making her more comfortable.
Riley nodded before collapsing and everything turning black.
What little comfort Min might have had from the creatures looking fluffy and harmless was lost when Riley collapsed.
The leader of the creatures shook his head and made a few sounds. The creatures moved in and formed around Riley and the others, gently picking up everyone. “I’ll take you all to her abode. She will let you rest, make sure you’re fed, tended to…everything you need.” He looked at Min and nodded kindly to her. “Even you, who she knows nothing about.”
“As long as we’re not being attacked or hurt…” Elizabeth said in a warning tone.
Min flinched. She could feel herself starting to bleed again.
The creature carrying Min sniffed at her and let out a whine.
“The medics will tend to her,” The leader said and they would soon travel across the land that seemed to shift constantly in appearance and nature, morphing from a forest to an ocean to mountains or other things. Though it did this, the world never seemed to harm the group as they made their way to the floating platform, which turned out to be a large and simple brick home.
Once they were inside, Min and Anastasia were taken to the doctors, who were also shadow creatures, but they made sure to keep the women comfortable. Elizabeth and Cook would go with the girls.
