JP - Stole my Dog Again
Coral just went to Clonestone. “Come on, can’t chase after speeding cars. Lets see if there’s somewhere to hide for now…”
“My closest lair is hours away by car.” Clonestone groaned. “We need more wheels…” But he knew if they stayed by the road they would get caught. “Let’s go in the woods, I know how to survive in the woods.”
Coral nodded, becoming more water than anything and followed him into the woods. “Your dog is the one that helped him, you know…”
“Bella has no reason to help the bastard who broke her leg. She was just playing with the duct tape, she didn’t know what she was doing.” Clonestone said. “She’s a dog, she’s loyal, faithful and true.”
“Fine, fine,” Coral muttered. “Believe what you want…” She had her doubts.
“That fucker stole my dog again.” Clonestone said, walking on a game trail in the forest. “I’m going to scrape his skin off when I find him.”
“If we find him.” Coral muttered, stabbing frozen water into a rabbit. “Dinner?”
“I’m not hungry.” Clonestone said irritably. He wished the girl was here so he could have fun with her.
Coral shrugged as she kept walking with him. Well, it was more like she floated since she was mostly water and took the time to skin the rabbit and get all the bones out. "I'll find you another girl. A better one. Maybe we'll find that Tzeitel chick you talk so much about." She explained as she made a section of water boiling hot and cooked the rabbit in it.
“I’ll get Tzeitel again someday. It’s just going to take a while to get to Connecticut. Especially if we’re stuck on foot.” Clonestone stopped walking, he could smell smoke, like from a campfire.
"You smell it too?" Coral asked as she ate her rabbit meal.
“Yeah. Someone must be camping nearby.” Clonestone said. “They probably have a car, or a truck.”
“Then lets go get ‘em!” Coral chimed and finished her rabbit before solidifying into her true form, a sweet and pretty looking girl. “I’ll get their attention this time.”
“Could just kill them and take their keys.” Clonestone said.
“Would that be fun, though?” Coral asked.
“It would get me to Tzeitel quicker, which would be more fun than anything I can do to these campers.” Clonestone reasoned.
Coral sighed heavily and became water again, going forward and grinning at the poor campers. “HI!” She chimed and turned her water into blades that sliced the poor people into pieces.
Clonestone picked through the campers’ remains for keys and other useful items.
Washing herself off, Coral smiled. She was obviously very proud of herself…
Clonestone found the keys, and the SUV they went to nearby. He was pleased.
Coral didn’t want to soak the seats this time, so she solidified herself and sat in the passenger seat. “Let's find them.”
Clonestone tossed Coral his phone. “See if anything about the girl has made the news, or a dog girl.”
Coral took some time to check. “Only thing I see is about the girl being at a hospital nearby.” She answered.
“Fucking hospitals. So much security, they probably even have police guarding her, or even MegaCorp soldiers hoping I’ll go there after her.” Clonestone punched his steering wheel. He started reaching for the glove box, then remembered he did not put tissues in there yet. “I’m going to have to play the long game with her… It will probably be easier to get Tzeitel than her at this point.”
“Then off to Connecticut or wherever she is?” Coral asked as she went to navigation on the phone. “I got this bad feeling in my gut that Bella was taken by MegaCorp…I dunno why, but I do.” She sounded genuinely worried about the dog-girl.
“Yeah, Connecticut.” Clonestone said. He frowned. “Why do you think MegaCorp got her?”
“Because that guy looked like a MegaCorp magnet…” Coral muttered as she kept working with the phone. “Plus, the water told me his chemical compounds, his vitals…and information on where he’s been. It’s complicated to explain, but since I’m an experimental meta, there’s a lot of weird shit going on in me.” Her blue hair fell down from her shoulders as she got the maps to work. “That way!”
Clonestone drove in the direction Coral indicated. “MegaCorp magnet? I thought he looked really boring.”
“You look like a weak old man when you go all wrinkly.” Coral told him to point out the irony. “Sometimes, the cover hides the truth, duh!”
“But he can’t manipulate his skin.” Clonestone frowned. “Can he?”
“No, but I bet he’s got something else up his sleeve.” Coral said.
“You should have killed him off sooner.” Clonestone said.
