JP- popping the question 2
Kiana may or may not have told every Underground person she met on her way to the kitchen that her brother was proposing to Gelf. She found a little coffee and poured it in a mug with a cup with a lot of hazelnut creamer. She tried calling home, hoping Herbert had learned how to answer the phone.
Instead of Herbert, it was Gregor who answered. “Hello, Miss Kiana.” He said in a friendly tone.
“Hey Greg, how’s it going?” Kiana asked.
“Oh, I’m well, but Herbert and Whiskers are fighting again.” Gregor said. “I believe they’ll both need a good talking to from Miss Evie when you return with her. How are all of you, Kiana? Staying out of trouble, I hope.”
“Oh, Evie.” Kiana groaned, sinking in a chair. “She wasn’t there. We didn’t save her.”
Gregor went silent for a moment, looking toward Herbert and Whiskers. “You realize the cat won’t take that well, correct? Still…are you, Sorley and Gelf okay at least?”
“I know… I’m afraid of how Whiskers will react, he misses Evie so much.” Kiana said, feeling terrible for her cat and poor Evie, still in hell. “Sorley and Gelf are fine, great, I think Sorley was working up the nerve to propose to her.”
Whiskers tilted his head and flattened his ears. He better not be hearing what it sounded like he was hearing.
“About time that boy married her,” Gregor said and looked down at Whiskers, frowning sadly.
Herbert blinked, getting the hint and picked up Whiskers without a word, taking him to Evie’s room so they could sit in there and just bask in what represented the young woman. “They’ll find her…” He said.
<What do you mean they’ll find her? They found her!> Whiskers hissed.
“Yeah, Sorley really loves her.” Kiana said.
Herbert just silently pet Whiskers.
Gregor sighed heavily. “Is there any chance you got some information on where to find the girl?”
“We looked through some files, but we couldn’t find anything about Evie.” Kiana said.
