JP - Pack and Family
Yule stared at Alex some more. “I feel like I should know you…”
Haven did not know how anyone from the village could miss her, she interacted with them so little. But she would go wherever Yule decided to go. She looked at Seele. “I think so…”
"I don't suppose you're familiar with temporal memory displacement" Alex chuckled scratching the back of his head.
“With temporary memory what?” Yule raised an eyebrow and looked at Haven. “What does that even mean?”
Seele nodded and was very patient as she both showed on herself and explained how to use the medical items before letting Haven try. Even then, when Haven forgot something, she’d gladly help her figure it out.
“I don’t know…” Haven admitted, awkwardly taking her own vitals with Seele’s coaching.
"It's the idea that memories of alternate timelines merging into our own" Alex explained "think of it or the Mandela effect."
Seele was very proud of Haven as she wrote everything down. “Ya coulda been a nurse, I bet!” She chimed.
Yule just looked even more confused. “Uhm…okay. So…is that why I feel like I should know you better?”
Alex nodded "long story short my cousin broke the time line, he fixed it as best as he could but there are some discrepancies.. I get memories of it sometimes. Some of them involve you."
Haven gave Seele a horrified look. Being a nurse would involve so much human contact.
“Hey, hey,” Seele waved a hand gently. “It’s just a joke, hun. Yer fine bein’ whatever ya wanna be.” She offered a kind smile. “Yer vitals are all good at tha moment, which is very good.” She rolled her eyes at Alex’s explanation. “I still need ta kick Riley’s ass fer that!”
“So…we were friends or something?” Yule asked Alex.
“In some timelines yes” Alex replied “in others we were more than just friends.”
Haven did not know what she wanted to be, only what she did not want to be. She sipped on her ginger ale nervously.
“More than…?” Yule stared at him, perplexed now as her ears twitched. “I don’t understand. Aren’t you with that Susi girl?”
Seele watched Haven for a moment. “Well, ya have tha time ta think about that while here, hun.” She told her.
“Not in every timeline, in some I was with you instead” Alex explained before blushing “and others the three of us were a pack.”
“I guess.” Haven said, feeling awkward.
Susi poked her head into the room and smiled. “Hey, Haven,” She said, remembering the red head very well from her visits to the main house. They had enjoyed a few conversations about the best glove wear. “Still gonna argue about what gloves are the best?”
Seele smiled and left them all to it. She hoped that the wolf girl could help get Haven’s mind off of all the horrible stuff.
“And yeah, we’re a pack.” Susi continued, looking at all three of them. “No matter the timeline, we are a pack and that includes you, missy.” She pointed right at Haven.
“Leather.” Haven whispered. She blinked at the finger pointing at her.
Alex chuckled before looking at Yule “Susi knows how to take charge.”
“You’re Yule’s friend, right? Our friend? So, you’re part of the pack!” Susi smiled real big at Haven. “I still say fake fur gloves are best, though.”
Yule couldn’t help but smile. It was like sitting in a room with a family.
Alex smiled and wrapped an arm around her “welcome to the family.”
“But those gloves are clumsy, and shed fake fur.” Haven said, still feeling awkward.
Susi just smiled. “Not if you get the good ones.” She said with a soft laugh.
“Sounds like you two have had this debate for a long time.” Yule said, looking at Haven encouragingly.
“I could never afford the really good ones.” Haven argued. “I was homeless.”
“I wouldn’t worry about that” Alex replied, setting a box on the counter.
