Dark History: Lone pup.

Joel let out a grunt of pain as he tripped while running through the woods, his hat flying off the distance revealing his coyote ears. Getting up he didn't stop to retrieve it and kept running he never liked the hat to begin with, it made his ears feel uncomfortable and itchy and he only wore it because it was the only way his parents would allow him to go out in public. Both of his parents were coyote metas and he inherited their ears and tail. So as a precaution he was always forced to wear hat cover his ears and have his tail tucked into baggy pants. As long as he wore the items he was allowed to go to this study group for homeschool children and make friends.
As he continued to run his mind flash back to early events of the day. He remembered sitting in the back of his parents car upset that he wasn't allowed to attend the pool party of one of the other children in the study group. His parents had given them the excuse of not wanting to risk people finding out about them but sometimes he wondered if they're just too cautious, they were his friends need knew they would have accepted him. He remembered pouting in the back of the car as they pulled up to the driveway of their house near the woods.
As they park the car that was when Joel noticed strange people emerging from the woods guns drawn. He remembered very little afterwards except his father telling him to run to the meetup point. It was a spot deep in the woods that his father had hit camping gear in case they ever got discovered He made sure that Joel had drilled the location into his mind so he would never forget. After traveling for a couple of hours through the woods he finally found it a small hidden cave containing the gear.
Setting up campy sat by the fire waiting for his parents trying to hold back tears. His parents should be all right they promised that no matter what they'd always be together. He just had to wait for them and they would show up.
Sadly they never would.
