Job Fixed, Job Begun
“Get up,” Zoras came into the room, throwing a clean towel at the other woman.
“I’d rather sleep,” Bri mumbled, half awake, and managed to catch the towel.
“Well, you have work to do and so do I. Besides, your ship is ready to go.” Zoras spoke as the beeps from Bri’s R2 found their way into the room.
“Good morning, Clive,” Bri responded which was met with a few more beeps. “I know, I know, we’ll go soon.”
Zoras shook her head. “I don’t think I’ll ever get used to him being called Clive.” She was the one who had obtained the drone for the other woman. “Feel free to get cleaned up, and anything in the kitchen. I need to get back to work.”
Zoras wandered out of the room. Bri was soon up, cleaned up and breakfast was downed in no time. The young woman then walked out to the main area of the shop, where Zoras was working on some ship. A few helpers of the metal variety that been pieced together with spare parts helping out.
Bri handed the mechanic some money, “It’s all there, including what I owed you from last time.”
The two had something that could be best described as a sort of working friendship. They weren’t exactly close but neither were actually close to any living being. Still, it worked on mutual trust.
The air out here smelled of sand, heat, and oil. It was early but the sun was already beating down on the dry climate of Aargonar. Bri could already feel the itch to move on. She could never understand how anyone could just live in one place.
Goodbyes were said and Bri and Clive went up the ramp and into the ship. Soon enough they were off. A check of the messages, not much. Last night, at a local bar she had met up with a business associate, someone that was often in need of the pilot’s service. Another job was offered to her, which was accepted.
“What?” Bri spoke to her Droid. “Oh, we’re headed for a pickup. Apparently, someone needs a ride to Tatooine. I didn’t really ask questions, the pay was good.” That’s what mattered right? With that and the coordinates downloaded, off they headed.
