“Are you okay? I’m sorry! I didn’t want you to get hurt. My people are very proud. Their error is, their pride is in the past, not in who they are now.” Sam said to her as he climbed into the jeep. "it's fine, pride is a hell of a thing it makes even the best of us act crazy." she said "pride Kate bit her cometh before a fall and all that." she said then bit her lip. maybe bible verses weren't something to say to an Indian. he didn't seem to bothered though. “I’m sorry you missed your dinner party for this,” Sam admitted to Marley. “Can I make it up to you? Where would you like to go and eat?” her face lit up "only if its chilly dogs." she said and buckled her seat belt the pain in her face a distant memory compared to the promise of her favorite food.

Kate ran her tong over her top teeth without opening her mouth. and tried to hide her smile. ravishing, was it? again he was right to the point. they were leaned so close together on the desk she could smell his cologne. suddenly the room was very hot and small feeling. her tong moved over her now dry lips and she tried to think of what to say to him. "Well...ill hold you to that ranger Embry." she said with a grin her eyes dropping to his lips then back up to his eyes. your move cowboy. she thought to herself wondering if he had it in him to make first moves or if he believed in lady's first.
she didn't get to find out however due to Davids drunk ass practically falling through the office door. she jumped and leaned back off the desk. David looked between the two of them and landed on the door with a sneer. "i was just looking for my dear sister... it seems I wasn't invited to our little get together tonight." Kate stood and smoothed her gown. "You are always welcome David. why don't you join us in the hall im sure mother would love to see you." it was a trap. he knew it she knew it anyone would know it. their mother would drown him in his dinner plate if he went in there like this. he scoffed at her "maybe some other time, I'm headed out." he gave the ranger a once over before sneering at him as well. "you two have a good evening.
