Uncomfortable Jack
Jack Embry was at the party. He was out of his comfort zone, especially in the things he wore, which was a dark suit with a bolo tie. His hat he hung up inside the door. There were two items he wore that he wouldn’t get caught dead without. His aviator sunglasses and his snake skin boots, which came to a point.
He’d rather be in a heavy firefight than at a classy dinner party. However, he realized it would be good to know the King family. They have been a pillar in the local community for a century and a half. He knew that Amelia King was a spitfire of a woman who often cut local leaders down to size if they didn’t lead in the way she thought they should. Embry chuckled at that. Grown men allowing a woman to control them.
Jack was mostly bored. He was glad the bourbon was flowing and free. The reason he liked the aviator glasses was that no one could really see where he was looking. They often helped him on the job see things he was not supposed to see, simply because the perp never knew where exactly the Ranger was peering.
Right now, as he took a sip of his bourbon, Embry was gazing at Kate King, the oldest of the King girls. By her fiery red hair, Jack surmised Kate was as lively as Amelia. Inwardly, Embry grinned at the thought of taming such a woman crossed his mind.
