14: War of the Worlds (Ethan POV)

The Russian girl looked angry but unharmed in her gleaming metal form. She looked quite reflective and he thought he would like to test his lasers on her for some advantageous use of her mirrored surfaces in combat. He heard the reply from Alchemy, real name Thomas but Ethan was trying to impress so no slip ups on real versus code-names.

"Got it!" Ethan answered his de facto lead. He didn't mind being told what t do. He was a cannon but he needed to learn how to take orders. He looked at the machine and hit it with a blast of microwaves. Metals conduct electricity with lots of electrons which move around, producing sparks and heat.

"Dust you are going to feel some static electricity but in your sand form it's going to increase your speed and buoyancy but it's going to get hot quickly!" Ethan said as he bombarded the leg with a stream of photons in the frequency of microwaves. The blast would heat the metal but it was the secondary effect that Ethan was exploiting. A surge of static electricity should be building in the machine.

Dust had turned into an abrasive dust storm and was wearing down the external shell of the machine. Ethan was hoping to exploit any cracks that she might have created in her attack.
