Although Min spoke three languages fluently, one of which was English, he missed the nuances and colloquial expressions. The references to a triangle and FMUL were lost on him. He had never met anyone who spoke about such personal things so freely, especially to a stranger. Again she had not been the first and he seriously doubted that she would be the last.

How do you talk to someone who has had their life taken from them?
How did Min even process an idea like that? Where do you learn to do that?
“That’s awful Dee Gee,” he said honestly, “In truth Dee Gee I do not even know how to respond to that. Not yet anyway.”
Except for the children everyone in his village had died, had been murdered. He remembered those that were helping had listened calmly to the survivors. One thing he remembered was being allowed not to talk when he felt that way.
“I know what it’s like to lose everyone I know to murder.”
