Background

She was born into a relatively normal family, neither of her parents were mutants they were your average, everyday couple, that enjoyed hiking and outdoor activities. They lived in New York City and took monthly trips to a cabin in the Catskills that her father inherited. That is where she was born. A trip took an unexpected turn when her mother went into early labor and ended up giving birth to her in the little hunting lodge.

The shock of purple-colored hair on her pale head & long tail curled around her body, covered in purple fuzz. They were fiercely anti-mutant; they were about to smother her when she opened her vibrant purple eyes. They could not force themselves to kill her, but they could not keep her. On the way back to the city they abandoned her on the side of the road where she was adopted by a cat. This cat raised her until she was captured by animal control and taken to the humane society. She was eventually adopted by a family who did not care she was purple. Their little girl named her Moonstone.

Moonstone was absentmindedly playing with a ball of string she was actually watching the tv. The father was watching some show it was not all that interesting to Moonstone. Moonstone heard a noise outside the window. She went to investigate. She noticed some very bad-looking guys like the villains from the cop shows the wife liked to watch. She made a bunch of noise to get the husband’s attention. The husband ignored her, so she attacked him, he started chasing after her and just barely missed being shot in the head. He grabbed her and took off to the panic room. “You saved my life!” Moonstone just meowed happily.

Reporters picked up on the fact that a purple cat was being credited with saving the husband’s life. People began to talk about the cat being a mutant with all the mutant hatred they knew Moonstone was going to be taken, tortured, experimented on, & probably killed. The family snuck out in the middle of the night left her in the woods of the Catskills. Moonstone chased after the car for as long as she could but had to give up. She curled up into a ball and cried herself to sleep. For the next several days she tried her best to make it back to them, but she didn’t know the way. When she finally gave up, she was hurt, confused, and blamed herself for being left alone. She tried to bond with people in the area but was constantly rejected.

Skills

Catseye retains her human intelligence while in her feline form. She possessed a photographic memory and was able to tell when she was being lied to. She also had some ability in hand-to-hand combat.

In her time at the Institute she has earned the equivalent of a blue belt in krav maga (fourth level belt, black is sixth).
She will also have covered the basics of espionage training, tailing someone surveillance that kind of thing.

Powers

Ailuranthropy: Catseye could transform herself into a lavender-furred feline humanoid. She can transform into either a house cat, a large panther, or a human-panther hybrid (a were-cat). She is still able to speak when in her hybrid and animal forms. Her hybrid and panther forms are more powerful than her human form.
Superhuman Strength: In her hybrid or panther form, her strength was roughly equal to a large tiger.
Superhuman Senses: Her senses are greater than the average human.
Superhuman Agility: Catseye's natural agility, balance, and coordination are enhanced to levels beyond the human body's natural limits. She could even move quickly in inverted positions.
Superhuman Reflexes: Catseye's natural reaction time is enhanced to levels beyond the human body's natural limits.
Healing Factor: She has a limited ability to heal damage.
Razor Claws: She has razor-sharp claws that can tear through flesh, bone, wood, stone, and some types of metals.
Prehensile Tail: Her tail is excellent at grappling and aids her in walking up walls.
Wall Crawling: She can crawl up walls, but it's not clear whether this was an actual power or if she just used her claws.
