More Fun and Rude Words

River giggled softly. "You're too nice, Chris." She told him and ruffled up the child's hair before continuing to play the video game with him. A part of her really hoped Tam would go to Nationals. She felt it would be a good change compared to that cramped pizza place or just plain being at home.

Even as she enjoyed herself, though, she still worried about the ignored phone calls. River knew she would hear about it later from her mother. The woman had been extra persistent with getting her to come home lately and she was concerned it had something to do with what happened four years ago.

Kevin shrugged and went to get his ice cream, gladly paying and grimaced at a comment from Kent. Returning, he did his best to mask the discomfort by eating the ice cream.

Glancing toward his backpack, he asked, "Think I should cut my hair and show off the stupid scar, Max?"

Bonnie suddenly dug her claws into Max at Kevin's question, a sign something was wrong.
