Changing The Subject

With a heavy sigh, River nodded. "He's only going to be in prison for a few years...it's why I left home. I don't want to be anywhere near there when he's released." She explained slowly, looking away.

Clearing her throat, she decided to change the subject. "So...breakfast and then we visit the hospital?"

In the living room, Kent finished his phone call with his father and shoved it into a pocket before the temptation to crush it under his boot became too much. His father had gotten his truck repaired and expected him to come get it. Why? Why would his father do this? The answers when he had asked his father this had been vague.

Looking back toward the kitchen, he dreaded letting the girls know he had to pick up his truck.

Kevin reached over and pet Bonnie gently. "Thanks, Max..." He said, seeming to finally calm down. In the back of his mind, though, he was calculating everything he would have to do if Layla did try to cause trouble.

Brushing it all aside for the time being, he tried to change the subject. "So...uh...shouldn't you get some sleep soon? You have a student to tutor tomorrow, don't you?"
