At Kent's response she lit up and shrugged. "Probably because they did. Not that I had anything to do with it. They're just sweet." She happily let him lead them to the theater where she pursed her lips and looked at what was screening. "I'm good with something funny." She looked to him, trying to gauge his reaction.

Max smirked. "You know you love me." Then he looked to Bonnie and pat her head. He could tell she got a kick out of that display as well.

Then he got a phone call. It was Veronica.

"Hey." Veronica said when he answered. "Max, I'm sorry to do this but could we move our dinner to another day? I'm needed in the OR and it's probably going to keep me busy all day."

Max felt a palpable sense of relief. "Hey, no problem. We can do it when you aren't saving lives."

Veronica sighed. "Thank you, Max. Again, I'm so sorry."

"No problem." Max said.

"Oh, and if you're curious, the boy, Chris, is doing much better. We'll have him looked after a couple more days but the news is good." Veronica said.

"I'll tell Tam, thanks." Max said before bidding her a good day and hanging up. He looked to Kevin. "She cancelled. But the boy is doing better. So not a total disappointment." Yet Max didn't sound disappointed.
