Crowning Point > Reactor complex
Inside the CPCS patrol car Officer Carson turned to Saygin, “So one of these things killed Malloy?”
Saygin replied "I think so, man. I didn't see it happen. Just heard shit, saw lots of blood but no body."
Officer Carson looked out the window of the VTOL. There didn’t appear to be a clear landing area nearby, but there was an open area beyond the trees and another structure that served as a storage house for reactor fuel tanks.
“What about over there? Got no eyes on it up here. We could touch down, I’ll move in from the opposite side? ” Carson looked to Saygin.
"Sounds good, Carson. I'll drop you by that storage house, then take off and continue the recon. See if I can spot the sec team." Saygin maneuvered the VTOL into position and descended to the landing space near the storage building.
Officer Carson gathered his gear and exited the vehicle, giving the Lotus’ door a couple of taps to signal he was good to go.
As the VTOL lifted off, he turned away and headed toward the west corner of the warehouse whose corrugated door was closed on the far end of the structure.
The road leading around the west side of the warehouse was little more than a path of muddy gravel that continued around the woods to a loading elevator beside the reactor which the Marshal was passing by.
Al Saygin tried to get a better vantage point, but the forest was thick with conifers. From his position, Saygin could see both the Marshal reaching the side near the drainage pipe and Carson approaching the front of the storage house. The whole building was backed against the forest. He heard the radio buzzed with static.
*tzzt* Carson to gold team, do you copy? *tzzt* he tried hailing the missing security team once more. ...still no response.
Carson stopped as he spotted something amiss on the side of the building. There was a large amount of blood on the ground and wall. The metal and concrete were warped and corroded, leaving an uneven and jagged opening in the side of the warehouse.
Inspecting it closely with his tactical flashlight, Carson saw that it was somewhat fresh with traces of fur. There also appeared to be a residue of yellowish green froth around the jagged opening.
Carson turned down his radio and reported the find in a quiet tone. ~tzzt~ Marshal, Saygin… I think I got something here. Looks like something was attacked and if Saygin is right about them having some kind of acidic properties, one of those things is inside the warehouse. Over. ~tzzt~
*tzzt* Copy that, Carson. Hold position. On my way. Do not engage. tzzt*, replied the Marshal.
*tzzt* Shit, Marshal. If Carson is down there with this thing, he's in trouble. *tzzt* said Saygin.
Carson raised his RMC AR and kept it trained on the hole, listening closely for any sign of something alive inside.
*tzzt* Carson, turn your radio down or off. Saygin, land that thing to block the hole. *tzzt* he ordered.
*tzzt* You got it Marshal! Stay clear of the LZ until I get her all the way down. *tzzt* said Saygin.
Officer Carson reached a hand down and keyed off his radio. As the Marshal hurried to his location, he changed his frequency to Ops. ~tzzt~ Ops, we've spotted something out behind the reactor. Warehouse storage. Requesting another team. ~tzzt~
*tzzt* Roger. I'll see who else I can send out that way. *tzzt*
