Heading To A Rebel Base

The more rejection Kye endured, the more panicked he began to feel. It wasn't until someone grabbed onto his arms, pulling him into an alley, that he really began to panic, though. Pheonix almost snapped the assailant's face off, if not for the older teen being in the way.

It did not help that the alleyway was too narrow for the Varactyl to fit through.

"Let go of me!" Kye yelled out, using the butt of his rifle to hit his assailant's chin, freeing himself. With a quick turn, he lifted the gun and aimed at the person. "What do you want?!"

Holding their hands up, the stranger gazed at him with narrowed eyes. "I mean no harm, kid." The woman said in a drawl. She was dressed in the same attire as most people on this planet, but something about the way she stood made her seem different. "Though, if you keep going around asking questions with that beast following you, you'll be killed before you know it."

Biting his bottom lip, anxiety filled the red head's mind as he glanced back at Pheonix. The Varactyl was glaring at the stranger, snorting obvious threats. "Okay, I get that, but what do you want?" Kye persisted, refusing to lower the gun. He really did not want to kill anyone else today, though.

"You stick out like a sore thumb, kid." The woman pointed toward him as she lowered her hands. It was easy to see through the teen's bluff. "I can help you with your sister. We all can, but you need to come to the base where we can properly get prepared."

"You'll help Aurora?!" Unable to hide just how naive he was, Kye almost smiled at the thought of helping his sister. "They took her and I'm worried they're going to..." He let the rest fall off, worried about mentioning what just might happen to her.

"Come on," The rebel woman gestured toward the alleyway entrance. "We need to move fast."

"What about Phenix?" Kye interjected, looking to the varactyl again. "He's with me."

"Bring him, but come on."

After some comforting pats and words to Phenix, Kye was able to calm the creature down and soon found himself heading for a rebel base.
