Lance's attempted

(Day 5 - Saturday- set build Beach party)
(JP with littlered222 and Red Sword)

Lance watched as Nancy stormed off. He could only chuckle at what just happened. "Lancy," they need more help over there," said Elena. Lance was not happy about working with the Scholarship kids. Elena had convinced him to help. So he and some of the other Football plays pitched in mostly working on the stage and big background props. He looked over and saw Conner and JD working on the back props. Being sand and not hard floor everything thing was being tricky they had to be extra careful. The teachers stressed safety overlooks. With sand shifting now and then made things somewhat difficult. He looks around for Elena who was panting some. he knew this would be his chance to talk to Rose about her being alone again and Sam busy as well. He had to convince her that to come back to the rich side. He made his way over next to her he had a wrench in his hand. and looked to be making sure that the Prop she was working on is good. "hay Rose, how are you?" He asked with a smile and a cheerful tone.

Rose was a little surprised that some of the snobbier rich kids had shown up to help but extra hands were always useful. Rose had been tasked with the finer paintwork that needed detailing.
She had just finished a section and stood up for a better look, to make sure she hadn't missed anything when she noticed Lance approach her. What was with today and people approaching her she didn't really want to talk to?
Still, Rose was nothing if not polite. "I'm good." She caught sight of JD and smiled a little; then asked Lance in return. "How about you?"

"I am good" he answered "I am sorry for the way I have acted towards you. I know we act entitled but we are. Elena has shown me that I should be nice to you even though you hang around the Scholarship kids. So how are you and JD doing?" he asked looking at another joint of wood.

Seriously. Lance had seriously just said what he said. Like he was doing her a favor by speaking with her. It was taking every ounce of her upbringing to not laugh at him. "JD and I are great." She paused. "You really don't get it, do you?" She was still being polite but it was a question she had wondered for a while "You don't understand why I hang out with them."

Lance Thinking what he wanted to say was what the hell to get over it and come back. "No, it does not make sense to me. We stand apart from them our world is so different than theirs. I don't know if they will ever fit in. So why would you put JD through that? I know people need a different seen now and then. but you should come and hang with us before JD gets rejected and hurt. You can have anyone you want for the most part you could do better. What does JD have that the other guys could not give you more of?" he asked.

Rose took a breath and shook her head. "In many ways, their world is better." She sighed. "To you its all about money and status but what would you have if those were suddenly gone? Could you say that your friends would have your back? I know mine would. " She then said something that she was certain he wouldn't understand. "Those scholarship students you are so quick to dismiss didn't have anything handed to them. They had to work to be here. They, along with the nerds you seem to enjoy bullying, are the ones that are going to change the world not the people who have everything handed to them. As for JD; he's kind and smart and an amazing athlete. And he gives me the chance to be myself around him; no need for airs or putting on an act just to please the people around me. He likes me for me not my name or my status or how much money I have." She then said. "Can you say that about any guy in your group? All of those things are the wrong things to care about in the end they are never what truly matters."

Lance started at the ground for a moment "Elena is much like that to me always asking me to just be me. I can see that's important. I do have people that have my back I am part of a team and we do for a large part look out for one other. We do change the world we give money to those who would like it to change for the better. my family gives a lot of money to charities and even supports a few missionaries." He paused for a moment. "don't tell anyone but my father even goes to the intercity the poor areas and even sets up football games. coaches for the kids there. So don't think rich people do not give and help to change things. Maybe we do need some other kids in the group." he said looking back up at Rose.
"To be honest Sam is not a bad person. You could even bring her along. We would be good with that. I think she and Elena would get along great. You are way more classy than them. I dought that they could even eat with the right fork at the table." he smiled "do they use forks?" he said jokingly. "don't think us so shallow that we do not see what's going on around us and don't want to help." he said reassuringly.

Rose stood there for a moment; she hadn't expected Lance to say anything like he had close friends or that he helped others even it was throwing money at things; his Dad helping inner-city kids had little to do with what Lance did. Lance got really close to her, at least, given him a little benefit of the doubt and then he blew it.

"Oh, My God! Seriously? Do you hear yourself? In one sentence you're talking about being nice to others; in the next, you're back to being your elite self. "Those people are my friends. Yes, Sam is my best friend but they are all my friends. They are kind, more generous than you could even understand and they don't judge people, unlike you. And just so you know; you think your group is so popular; your small group. Look at who the majority of the school really is; it's not your group. Ever wonder why that is? It's because of this. You can't even be nice when you try." She took a breath and calmed down. "I have something with JD you can't ever understand. I wouldn't hang out with your group without him and Sam wouldn't come without Heath so I guess you're just stuck. You think you know what class is but you haven't even begun to comprehend the meaning of that word."

Lance got a frustrated look on his face. He glanced over to Elena who smiled back at him. "I can tell I upset you. I apologize and will leave you alone now. It was nice talking to you. I hope we can hang out sometime." said Lance as he stands up.

Rose didn't say anything; as Lance didn't even seem to understand why she was so upset with him She took her paintbrush and went back to where she had been working and went back to work without saying anything else to the boy.

Lance just walked away shaking his head. "thats went bad" he mumbled to himself.
